Yes Rolo, I agree but you might not have considered this.... I was down in Nottingham since Tuesday and being the only 'Scot' in our party, I suddenly became the official spokesman for Scotland (if you know what I mean). I was grilled on everything, and of course was told 'you're not getting our pound,....' followed by usual rhetoric pish... Anyway, last night a squad of them mentioned 'this singer' and again, I'm challenged but before a reply could come, the wee voice behind said, 'Who's David Bowie?' Pretty much summed it up to me.... What? They didn't recognise Bowie's greatest hits? The Man Who Fell To Perth? Ziggy played Stranraer Scary Monsters (And Super Neeps) Speyside Oddity The Spiders from Largs Hunky Doric DOH!

The BBC are being monitored at the moment, Oz, I referred to this a few posts back.
Not simply for their reporting of the issues but also the allowing of comments on their pages that has seen a tidal wave of anti-Scottish vitriol seemingly going unmoderated. Content that if directed at any other country/peoples/groups would be quite frankly, unacceptable.
Much of the mainstream media, as we know, is owned by people with their own political agenda. That's a given and therefore bias to be expected.
However BBC is owned by everyone in the UK: we have no choice whether to pay the licence fee or not--- and as such we expect non-partisan reportage.

BBC Scotland, especially the "news" department are very close to the LIEBOOR-SCUM party, BBC chief John boothman has very very close links the the LIEBOOR-SCUM party via is close friendship with LIEBOOR-SCUM special advisor, to Jonah lament, Paul Sinclair. Boothman is a LIEBOOR SCUM activist and is partner of Susan deacon, former LIEBOOR SCUM MSP. He's been censured before for offering media training to LIEBOOR SCUM candidates.

Bit of good news from G20 summit. They have decided to chase up multi-nationals about tax evasion

Owing to my type of business, I get invited to Take part in such "tax efficiency schemes" regularly. They are all exactly the same, just waiting on HMRC catching up with them, Even just a a casual observer one can see that they ar just the usual, if something is to good to be true................... Rangers got themselves into a tad of bother offering similar schemes

They all seemed a good way for them to make money and me to cop the flak I told my accountant if I ever got a call from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) I wanted to feel mild irritation not break into a cold sweat. The other leaches are the "Financial Planners" with their get rich quick schemes.

I stay well clear of inancial planners, especially the supposed "independent" ones, dick Turpin could learn something from them, like not wearing a mask. Employee Benefit Trusts, you have yer gross salary into an offshore trust, they give you a "loan" which doesn't need tax paid, the loan is never repaid....... The EBT eventually mysteriously, after a few years, goes dormant, never to be seen in public again

Who was it that said "There's only two certainties in life: death and taxation"? There's a whole industry leeching off some peoples' sheer greed, is there not. You gotta ask yourself why someone on a salary of £700K, (that's £58,000 a month) paid for by public taxation, feels the need to evade paying reasonable tax on what they've earned. Chris Moyles, just for one example, will be a USER of everything provided by the UK tax system. Yet tries to get away with paying less than a person who earns £20K, claiming his tax avoidance was legal. He, and people like him, are morally repugnant.

Ben Franklin I think
Blame the Americans for Income Tax. Pitt brought it in as a temporary measure to get funds to fight American rebels*.
