A young actress the partner of Sean Penn, is saying the invasion of her privacy is like being raped. Well I hope she will never know the difference!! I find it hard to stomach these self obsessed people who live such a privileged life and who open their mouths and say the wrong thing. She should be able to complain about over invasive publicity, keeping in mind she CRAVES it, however comparing it to some poor soul, male or female who has been raped and has to live the rest of their life with it, is a rather sick comparison. Sometimes I would like to be violent and give some people a kick in the backside!! Really.

Charlize Theron: I was pretty surprised to read her comment earlier today too I wonder if the quote was accurately reported or taken out of context, cos that does happen... I do think the press are completely out of control regarding intrusion into peoples' personal lives: hacking phones, doorstepping, raking through middens and constant paparazzi action. But a pretty unfeeling (and perhaps ignorant) thing to say, nevertheless. I was watching Question Time last night (easily one of the most dumbed down episodes ever..) when some footballer Joey Barton likened the four main UKE political parties to four really ugly girls...didn't go down well either on in the panel or in the audience...however he apologised when challenged, said he was nervous about being on QT and that he could have found a better analogy. I wonder what Charlize will say when the inevitable retraction's forthcoming..? Sometimes the oxygen of publicity is a very bad thing, in the wrong hands

I agree with Mark Cuban. We should let stupid people say whatever they want. It pays to know who they are. I can't believe she said such an idiotic thing.

I had read it on Google news and as I was writing this it came on Sky News and I heard the interview. She actually lived through her mother killing her father in South Africa and apparently was there. Sad that happened to her, however to suggest intrusive publicity particularly when MOST of the time they look for it. It is a job for egotists, although many DO manage to hide from publicity if they really wish to so I have very little sympathy for her or her comment.

I find it rather difficult to have any sympathy for celebrities who complain about media intrusion.
They cannot have it all ways, its a pandora s box, once opened................
The likes of the beckhams, Katie price, royalty, etc etc who think they can turn it off and on to suit themselves are seriously deluded, tough shit, they can ram it up their erse.

I had never heard of her before this thread, like most of my countrymen, am not awed by celebrities and really dont give a bugger about what they do or say or dont do or say. Of course there are some idiots that hang on their every pronouncement as though emanating from on high
I have seen a bit about it in the papers now but as Peony says just shows their attitude towards others.
Having said that I see Sam Neil out on his own walking on beach some early mornings. Just a muttered "g'day" a raised hand and a smile is the total adulation to and from fellow walkers.

I would have thought that Charlize Theron had better sense than to make a movie with Seth MacFarlane.

Dont know Ed Devereau apart from seeing him on Tv and in films but Sam Neil is a pleasant unassuming guy who acts for a living. He was Sean Connery's offsider in "Hunt for Red October" Their pronouncements outside their chosen field carry no more weight than anyone elses Another one you can Google, Nota, is Michael Pate Played more Red Indians in Westerns than you could poke a stick at
