Okey dokey, that's the wee poll shut down until the winner's declared on Friday 19th. Depending how the vote goes, that may be earlier in the day or much much MUCH later.... Anyways, folks, it's gonna get a wee bit hideous this next week from some quarters, no surprises there. But not hereabouts. For we shall remain civil--- while exchanging the odd robust point of view...

Wow, hellish precise prediction there, Mini NOTA, you have one hour to fine-tune your prediction. 60%+ YES ain't cutting it. There's WHISKY and HAGGIS at stake, man, ffs! JEEZO I was in ma bed at that time.......61% YES

Good evening, friends!
I, as presiding officer for the Glasgow Westend Forum, declare that the winner is Stuarty, having made the closest prediction.
53% NO.
Stuarty, if you'd care to PM me, I'll arrange to get your prize whisky/haggis of your choosing to you.
All best, Rolo

PM Sent. My guess does not reflect how I would have voted (if I could), but a rational take on how I saw the likely outcome given all the polls and signals. All you guys who were saying 60% yes (e.g. on here) or 70% yes (Tommy Sheridan etc) and who live there, how do you explain the lack of rationality? I don't get it. Were you joking/pretending so as to try to influence the little old lady vote?

Hope in my case, Since you apparently do not live here, perhaps you did not know that at the last election when our current Government in Edinburgh was elected, these same polls were telling us up to the day before that Labour were well ahead in all their polls and it was going to be a shoe in for them. When the vote was over Labour were trounced even though the system was set up to prevent this to be possible! I suspect Stuarty, that might be some of the reason why many people did just not trust the polls, also the polls done by any of the main stream media and the bbc were so pro the no side it was difficult to trust them. If we could always go and trust statistics we could probably always win the football coupons!!

Glasgow forum... certainly my personal experience led me to believe the polls were inaccurate. I'd seen a vast move towards YES amongst my family, friends, workmates. My own extended family were 100% YES and that's the case for almost everyone I know. Glasgow's result was 53% YES. In my own constituency, 57% YES. We've always known the simple demographic that the wealthier you are, the less likely to vote YES. With many exceptions of course....but I don't tend to hang out with people whose sole motivation is their own wealth== so that's maybe one reason my own forecast was wrong. I do have a few NO voter pals, a tiny percentage: they voted NO because of sheer lifelong loyalty to the Labour Party. I believe they are misguided and will find that out over time. Unfortunately, so will we all

Unfortunately, so will we all I found something similar I reckon the split of people I know ( rellies, friends and work colleagues) was about 70/30 to YES What surprised me most was that most of the YES folk all had very good professional well paying jobs across employers like RBS, MOD, HMRC, ( mostly UK department civil service) NHS Most NO voters I know ( see parameters above) tended to be retired, elderly and some even ignorant of any or some facts, despite the availability of information - I was even speaking on Saturday night to a new retiree ( a very successful hotel owner) who didn't even know that she could still keep her British passport after independence - that was her main reason for voting NO - that dumbfounded me, as she's normally a very shrewd operator in business

Stuarty and I have been chatting by PM, everyone, and given that he's living quite far from Scotland, we've agreed that delivery of his prize is fraught with difficulty... So, we've happily agreed that I'll make a donation in his name on Saturday to the massive foodbank in George Square, which is being organised by the (so aptly named) Andy Carnegie and his son, who have been collecting for foodbanks for several years. Their organised appeal's as a result of the impromptu generosity in the Square last weekend: news.stv.tv/west-central/292974-hundreds-of-bags-donated-to-pop-up-foodbank-in-george-square/Re the unused whisky, if anyone knows of any local-to-Glasgow organisations running a charity raffle, I'd be happy to donate it. <unless it's been cracked open by visiting, bereft YES voters chez Rolo who need some medicinal comfort....>
