Just back on topic for a minute. One thing that's really bothered me from the beginning. I just couldn't figure out how the co-pilot could have POSSIBLY foreseen that his captain would leave the cockpit so early in the flight, on a route where he could conceivably crash the plane into an area that was so familiar to him in the Alps.. I've taken literally hundreds of short-haul flights, like everyone else here has---how many times have YOU seen flight crew leaving the deck to go to the toilet? (I never have, ever.) Did co-pilot KNOW the captain would leave the deck? The sooner EVERY airline implements a flight deck minimum of two crew the better. I'm actually staggered that it was ever allowed to be otherwise.
