Poor wee nurse, RIP. But what I don't understand is why would a young intelligent woman go off with a guy she didn't know. Or was he known to her , it doesn't say in the reports. She had her whole life and good career in front of her. Condolences to her family.

Welcome Ochil, I agree with you, horrific for the poor family. I think it will come out that he may have invited het to his car to buy an i phone or some similar excuse. She did NOT go to his house for casual sex in my humble opinion, she was not the type apparently and I believe it. He is a fucking monster, it will come out what he has done before, it is on official records. I personally think the Police have done a brilliant job and STOPPED a possible future serial killer.

Have the cops charged the guy?
They have arrested him a prime suspect and he is supposed to be appearing in Court today at some point.

After his trial a lot will come out about this fuckingmonster. He has done previous horrific things and but for technical fuck ups he would still have been in jail. I am delighted how the people of Glasgow today held a vigil for this wee soul and her suffering family.

I think everyone is wondering about how this horrific turn of events could have happened. There's a great deal of local info circulating about this guy's history from a range of sources but of course, on a public forum, we have to take care in what we post. You'd hope the due process of law will be brought to bear and the facts will come out in time. And I agree 100% with Bormes that the emergency services have done a truly great job in the most horrific circumstances.

I closed our office early today so that anyone who wished to could go to the vigil in nearby George Square.
Hundreds of folks stood in complete silence, on a beautiful sunny spring evening: the joy of that so utterly contrary to how people were obviously feeling.
I saw people of all generations and from all walks of life.
Some folks will no doubt be all over the internet decrying such impromptu public gatherings as some sort of cathartic outpouring of grief. Well no: as I said, folks just stayed awhile, stood in silence and went their separate ways.
Respect.

This is truly horrific reading from the court today: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-33859134Thank eff this psychopath's off the streets. Clearly he was wired-up wrong from the off; not the product of a broken home, of deprivation, of social circumstances. A life sentence needs to mean life. Not 15 years with time off for good behaviour. He should never be released in my view.

I think he will get off with a twenty two year minimum and I think he should NEVER get out. If he gets out, he WILL kill again. He pled guily he says to spare the family more pain!! Fuckingliar!!!! He pled guilty as his lawyer told him if everything comes out in court he would get a thirty odd minimum, so now this early guilty plea will help reduce his sentence!! Bastard. He had been seriously searching the internet for over a year to see how to get rid of a body. Unfortunately the judge is not allowed to know what is STILL ONGOING as he has pled guilty. However the good thing is, if other bodies are found it CAN now mean a new trial, they would not be included in this one, however IF he has done more then the time lapse could mean an impossibility of proof!!

I'd not be uber-surprised if there was a lot more to come out in this case either, Bormes. Classic psychopath behaviour (from the little I know helping Ms R revise for her Psychology course this past 4 years).
It was chilling watching his police interview: such a plausible, well-spoken, well-educated young man. Pals of mine are parents of kids who were at Kelvinside Academy, some in the same year group.
Psychopathic personalities are not uncommon: most don't commit violent crimes but tend towards positions of influence and power over others such as banking, politics, teaching and unfortunately religious based organisations. They use charm to disarm their *victims* who are mostly random, as opposed to targeted.
You kinda feel the writing was on the wall when he got away with his previous crimes on technicalities. Someone has ALWAYS known, I feel, that he is a very dangerous excuse for a human being. That's why I feel there's going to be more to this case coming out, over time.

Its the same the world over We had a psychopath who had been released from jail after serving a sentence for sexual assault, why he was released is beyond me. He raped and murdered an Irish girl who was on her way home from work late at night. He got life this time with his file stamped "NEVER TO BE RELEASED" this is reserved for the worst offenders I know one or two of these animals have sought leave to apply for parole. It has been refused each time.

I dunno, I just feel SO world-weary at times. When awful shit like this happens, you just KNOW there's going to be a backstory coming out--- because it's rarely a one-off incident that's happened without warning of some kind.
Sane people in possession of their faculties don't tend to drive their passenger jets into a mountainside and GPs don't usually kill off their patients with lethal injections. People at the highest level of government, it seems, are not strangers to paedophilia and very probably worse. Likewise certain religious organisations...
Psychopathy knows no bounds in terms of class, education or IQ. Sex crimes are rarely about sex per se, more about power and dominance.
These are people who are cold-bloodededly calculating and use their notion of (learned) empathy to dupe people. They often present as likeable, charming and trustworthy.
And they are the same the world over, as you say, Oz.
I've always brought Ms Rolo up to trust her gut instincts about a person. It's served me well thus far in that I walk away from people who I get a bad feeling off of-- no matter what others might say about them.
Someone, somewhere KNEW that this guy was dangerous and will have given previous warning what he was capable of. It's so fecking TRAGIC that it will only come to light in hindsight.

Know feeling!! Cops here are complaining bitterly about easy bail conditions and light sentences handed out by judiciary. The guy who was responsible for siege at Lindt cafe was out on bail against advice from cops. Someone knew better than cops and are now diving for cover!!! 2 lives lost because of PC 3 if you include terrorist but he was no loss.
