So tonight I was suitably edumacatit at a PVG training event for those who work with young people and other vulnerable groups. We were taught how to recognise signs of neglect and abuse. To be honest, most of it seemed like common sense to me but then I am really quite old and there were a lot of much younger people there who will have benefitted from the knowledge passed on by the trainers. So anyways, at 8pm, about half way through the four hour session ( ) I get a text from the wean, reasonably enquiring if there were any plans for dinner. It seems I'd been so focussed on my work day that I'd forgotten to take our dinner out of the freezer before I went out this morning-- and there weren't even the makings of a meal in the fridge ;D unless you can wizard up dinner out of cheese, some bendy old potatoes, a jar of honey, a pound of mince and the bottle of cava chilled in readiness for Hogmanay ;D Going by tonight's instructions via the trainers I am now most probably guilty of negligence. Oh, the irony....

Away an' drink yer Cava ya rascal ye,!!!! ;D ;D ;D Nah Bormes, I've not touched the stuff since a particularly silly/hellish episode when I was 19. Wasn't smart enough then to know it suits some personality types and not others. Like whisky. Learned that the hard way an' all ;D ;D ;D Thon bottle of Cava was extra to requirements last Hoggers, so I'm saving it, not for Hoggers 2012, because that'd be silly---it'll get cracked open next weekend for a chez Rolo birthday.

Oh, the irony.... Heh. I reckon it would make a nice enough dinner (well, ignoring the honey, which is utterly foul stuff unless in the form of mead). A bit lacking in the fruit and veg aspects, admittedly, but nice enough to scoff. You negligent mammy, you! Think black burning shame on yourself! ;D Young Miss Rolo=ette will surely face worse mealtimes than thon before she's done being a student. Try leaving her with half an onion and just under a pound of rice to last about 2 weeks. They say the best form of defence is attack, nessy paws? So I hope when you got home, a good two hours after this plaintive text message, the wean had cooked dinner and it was all ready and waiting for you.

Going to be your birthday rolo? Well then you may remind what it is like to be in your forties, it's so far back I can't remember. Are you "Chipping" Victoria is now working in Tennet's, she favours the side the Bandit's are on, leaving Lennon's corner and "The Fairy Dell" to be served by sychophants.!!

Well yes, Bormes, next weekend I slide further towards 60 than 50. I can see your charm coming a mile away btw, but I love it anyway ;D However, no plans for "Chipping"...I share a birthday with a young family member who turns 13 so it'll likely be Ketchup for a spot of lunch, to please the many weans in the family. Or if we're all missing Spain.....we are, we are!.....then Cafe Andaluz. Of course I'll be reminding Ms Rolo that a wee pre-lunch cava would go down rather well. It's health-giving, don't you know

"WE WUZ WRANG" IPCC report. Professor Bjorn Homborg, the mad hatter, says man is warming the planet, but the evidence now shows global warming theorists have vastly exaggerated the problem. It wuznae us buttt. It wuz a big boay an he ran awa!!!!The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report will grudgingly dial down the alarm:! Quelle surprise....¡Quina sorpresa......Was für eine Überraschung....Hvað á óvart!

Will the extra tax on flights etc., etc., be dropped then?? Lol. Hell yeah, there's a thought! Can't say I'm surprised, Oz, either. I've always thought that since weather records only go back a couple of hundred years, it just can't be possible to forecast 'changes' accurately. Mind you, the report I read the other day put the blame for the gross inaccuracy fair and square on 'the computer' ;D Ygorra laugh! Re weather, yeah, we've had some strange phenomena this past ten years or so, agreed. But I always thought this had more to do with activity of El Nina and El Nino. The latter influences the jetstream over Europe which has been lower than usual for years, bringing very cold, damp summers, greater rainfall all year round and a return to really cold winters. But Scotland/UKE has had its best, warmest summer in decades, jetstream having reverted to a little north of these islands. ;D

New government here is repealing the Carbon Tax
I hope we can stop building these blights on the landscape, wind turbines. Dont know bout UK but they are heavily subsidised here and serve no worthwhile purpose here apart from chopping up birds and destroying people's peace. Gas and coal fired power is one hell of a lot cheaper here.

Are they now, that's interesting! Re wind turbines, I'm gonna disagree with you there, Oz. I am all for harnessing wind and tide power, which Scotland has plenty of...... Yeah, sure, the power from those sources is currently fairly minimal in the grand scheme of things, grid-wise, but we're committed to developing the science of using natural sources of power. In a few years' time naturally generated electricity will play a much greater part, I'm certain. Start up costs, like ANY enterprise, will be high at the start. But it will reap rewards in the longer term. As for the aesthetics, I don't hold by the 'Blott on the landscape" mindset. The total opposite in fact.

Thats UK perhaps Idont know but here it costs us plenty for " sustainable" energy to such an extent we are losing out on exports and jobs. I would rather see full employment rather than some feel good scheme that is unafordable and is of questionable benefit

ScottishPower are investing (at customers' cost) in windfarms and heavy research into tidal and hydro power. While it's tough on the wallet right now, it does mean that Scotland will generate extra energy in the near future, which will be sold on to the UKE national grid. To my way of thinking it would be insane NOT to invest in, and exploit, our natural energy sources, which are so plentiful hereabouts: water, oil, gas and wind. No? ;D

Not really we have oodles of coal and gas enought of the former to last at least several centutries. By that time They will have sorted out nuclear energy and we have oodles of uranium too
