It just gets worse, this story. Melissa Reid from Lenzie has been persuaded to plead guilty in exchange for a lighter sentence. You'd imagine if her previous pleas that a big boy did it and ran away were true, and she was truly an innocent, she and her lawyers would be fighting 24/7 to prove her innocence. Why would ANYONE who's innocent plead guilty unless they 1) actually are and 2) under duress? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24277301These two girls though, are hardly hardened criminals. Thick as feck, yes, that's been clear from Day One. Yeah, if they can't do the time, don't do the crime and all that....but shirley the Peruvians might try JUST A LITTLE HARDER to make an example of the big guys, the manufacturers and dealers. Mules are ten a penny, there's always gonna be folks with an IQ in single figures, but they're only a wee tiny element of a far bigger problem.

Agree with you however in fairness to Peru the two deaf ties set off from Spain and the Spanish Police is FULL of corruption, which is well known in UK Police circles. That I suspect would make it very difficult for Peru to chase down the big bosses in Spain. Mind you it is the same in Scotland. Most people know who some of the main dealers are yet in all the years of fighting drugs only ONE has had a long sentence and that for TAX evasion!! Others have been killed by each other but very very few get jailed for any long sentence.

Apparently the word I hear from Lenzie, is that no one is really that shocked that it was her who was caught. Seemingly it was a nae shit Sherlock type moment for a lot of people who know her and her family

They have the Guardia Civil, who tend to deal with everyday crime, plus the fairly intimidating Mossos D'Esquadra. All heavily armed. Re Scottish drug dealers, yes, I think you're right, and that the tack is if you can't nail them for drugs because of the layers of obfuscation they're so clever at, you nail them for ANYTHING you can. A bit like Al Capone being done for tax, rather than being a murderous gangster, in the US in the 20s....

Apparently the word I hear from Lenzie, is that no one is really that shocked that it was her who was caught. Seemingly it was a nae shit Sherlock type moment for a lot of people who know her and her family From what I've read, it seems to be her father that's influenced her to plead guilty. Which I thought odd at the time, because if your child's innocent of a crime, or has truly been co-erced, shirley you'd move heaven and earth to prove their innocence? I suppose though, you have to factor in these two 20 year olds aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer. They know little of life and at that age probably feel invincible and up for taking risks they're really unable to compute. The Peruvian authorities have said today that in order to accept their guilty pleas they have to give the names of those they claim forced them to carry the drugs. What a double bind that is.......you do not mess with these guys, doing so puts you under threat for the rest of your natural, never mind your family. Is it that coke's become so NORMAL in the past three decades that IQ challenged kids don't realise what the supply chain's about and who's involved in it? Mainly it doesn't kill people the way smack does, which is why I have an issue with it being a Class A drug. But then again, everyone who's been around anyone coked out their head knows fine well how f*cking tedious a drug it is. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Well the Scottish Police set everything up with officers already over in Spain ready for the go so that when the International Warrant is applied for they are in place already so as the local police who have to be the ones to do the raid do not have too much time for leaks. As my friend will tell you it is very very hard to arrest anyone of high value from Spain because of the corruption. Mind you the last drug killer who had a warrant applied for in Scotland did not need to be warned by the Spanish, no, the CROWN told the media the name of the man they were trying to serve the warrant on, he was one of the ones who allegedly shot Gerbil, that went down well with the officer and men in that investigation NOT!! The Spanish Police also have a name for being particularly brutal.
