Something I really wish I could share with you. I was out for a walk yesterday up to the top of Long Reef Headland when I saw about 4-500yrds off shore a couple of ginormous whales heading North of course I didnt have a camera and even if I did they would prob show up as dots. Whale at Sydney harbour Entrance Pic: Jonas Liebschner, www.whalewatchingsydney.com.auA few years ago the Manly ferry wqas held up by a whale scratching himself on Manly Wharf Further up the coast a pod of Dolphins were surfing along side surfers Pic Manly Daily (Rita Kluge) Pic Dily Telegraph (murray Fraser) at Freshwater All this happening within 5 miles of my home... its a wonderful time of year

Grand! We've whales, dolphins and porpoises here aplenty, Oz. You just can't see em against the sea, which is, like the sky, relentlessly grey. We've loads of sharks as well. Mostly found in the licenced and taxi trades.

This winter I plan to stay warm by foraging for the tens of thousands of discarded copies of the Daily Fail-- and setting them on fire with gay abandon. Its recycling, don't you know. *toasty*

yeah it is dear but its been the coldest winter for yonks (courtesy of global warming apparently).
Remember we are used to much warmer temps, anything below 20 has us reaching for sweaters, below 15 warm jackets and below 10 is sub antarctic. Also our housing is built for warmer climate, large single glazed windows, open plan living so we feel the cold. Our living dining and kittchen area is one big area without doors just a couple of partition walls.
We could get cheaper heating if we bought a wood burner but gees the rest of the house would be cold . We rely on reverse cycle air conditioning set on 20 to keep the place habitable. Only rooms not aircond are bathrooms and laundry.
Roll on summer, roughly mid September to mid May, (probably a bit later this year coz of global warming)and back to shorts and tee shirts
Will you be able to get 1000s of copies if Daily Fail is there circulation big enogh?

Lets just say the Daily Fail's not widely appreciated in Scotland so the shops are left with thousands of copies.... Anyway, I'm going the wood-burner route, that's the joy of having open chimneys in these old houses. Gonna double up on wood deliveries with upstairs neeb, who swears by his this past couple years.

Yeah I reckon wood heating is way to go... wonder the greenies havent banned it as cruel to trees!!
Get chimney thoroughly swept before installing it.
