Holidays for us will be changed for the next while, we are now the proud mummy n daddy of a wee St Bernard puppie
Look like next summer we'll be emulating the trials n tribulations of the family Oz and wandering the highways and byways of Scotland, dans le maison en automobile.
There aren't many opperchancities for a fully grown St Bernard to venture abroad on the cheap,
Anyways the wee dug is a pure hoot

Dave he jist reverse a big huge pickup intake yer garage, strap the hoose on and away he go in yer campervan again Yeah it felt that way specially coming home . Taxi controller at Sydney airport took one look at us peering round a mountain of luggage on a trolley and said "You need a station wagon hold on" with that he raced down the never ending queue of taxis and came back with one. Even then it was a tight squeeze.

Maybe it's because of our jobs---both me and Mr Rolo being *on the road* so much over the years, that I like a wee bit of luxury and a bit of a pause to be together as a family on our infrequent holidays. I guess given our lifestyle and silly hours most of the year, we just like to flop a bit and rest up somewhere comfortable. And now that Ms Rolo's graduated, I do feel a certain sense of freedom in that I can now take holidays out of term-time and believe me, I plan to take more of them from now on! Starting very possibly late August. This goddarned weather is SO bloody depressing we all need a late week in the sun to get the Vit D levels up before tackling another Scottish winter! Today in central Glasgow I felt so sorry for the hordes of tourists, dreeping about in layers of wet weather gear. Merchant City Festival's been a total washout thus far, with a few days to go. I sure it is. When I became a boss and I had to wear a suit, white shirt, conservative tie and to be serious and dignified as a large part job was impressing prospective clients with the fantastic skills of my practise and entertaining them so they gave us work. I ate at very good restaurants, flew business class (if over 3 hours*) turned up my nose at any hotel less than 4 stars. So getting away from it held great appeal to me Im a natural born slob.

I doot you could take a St Bernard on one of your cruises, like. All inclusive yeah-- but my pals have St Bernards and boy, do they eat them out of house and home. At least if you get lost on some peak or other in Scotland you have a ready made rescue dog. Wi a wee flask of brandy round its neck. Hell yeah!

We had a ball in the "motorhome" great fun. As usual the ladies took far to many clothes. Went to places you couldnt take a caravan and came and went as you pleased, mostly stayed in caravan parks but not always. Was fun driving on single lane roads with passing places, tended to use my weight a bit. Some great places in Scotland off the beaten (tourist) track like Lochinver and Applecross. Gees they were some roads. We were very lucky with weather there. My daughter has got soft they have given away camping and have bought a caravan which they tow behind the Patrol. Its great it has everything including electric motors on the wheels so it can be maneuvered using a remote like a TV

Funnily enough, the Queen Mary2 has kennels on board and next year they are being expanded to cater for more dugs. The breeder we got him from, near Eyemouth, has 12 adult St Bernards plus this litter provided another 12 healthy pups It was like an episode of Beethoven, but the big adults were all docile friendly big dugs indeed But it's great havin a dug in the hoose again....

Well now, that sounds like a win-win, Nota! And thae big mental ships are huge enough to exercise a big dug round the decks, I guess. Dead glad you're loving your new pet about the place. We lost our 15 year old Poppy last year, Ms Rolo's been agitating for a new kitten lately but you know, I've said not likely. Cos she'll be off out into the world soon enough and to be honest, I don't want tied down by the responsibility of a pet when I'm just getting my second wind. Not fair to the wee animal when me and Mr R continue to do silly unpredictable hours for another bloody ten years before we can retire. Whatever that is...

When we lost our lab in January we felt exactly the same- freedom to come and go as we pleased - well we doggy sat for a neighbours three golden retrievers whilst they went on holiday at start of july and that was us hook line and sinker into getting another dog I'm registered with a St bernard website and got notificatiion of a breeder in eyemouth - I knew of her already from my research- she had a litter of 12 puppies ( well not her, her st bernard) so off we went to eyemouth..................
