Hi Everyone, Firstly i hope i am posting this in the right section, please feel free to tell me off if am no. On the 18th of November from 6pm till late I am holding a wee craft/pr event @ the Grosvenor Cafe in Ashton Lane. There will be roughly around six local traders attending showing off their goods. We will have handmade jewellery, handmade soaps and oils, handmade clothing from a 50's inspired local designer and hopefully some goods that will keep the men/boys happy;-) Hopefully we will have some Artists present too. This event is alll about the designers/artists and supporting your local traders/economy. If you would like a list of traders and links to their websites give me a message and i'll let you know. I hope some of you will come along and see us, even if it is just to have a look. oh, and it won't cost a penny to come in for a look this event is free of charge. if you have any enquiries about this please drop me a message as i'll happily answer any questions you may have. Thanks Cat x

Look forward to it Cat, can you post a list of the local traders please? Have you asked Nicolas Wheatley of Maryhill Art School? He is normally very helpful for this sort of thing. When you say that you are holding this event, are you holding it on behalf of yourself or on behalf of Mr King of the new Grosvenor Cafe ?

Hi, I so far have Flossy and Dossy Clothing - 50's inspired handmade clothing, bags and knitwear Sweet peacock - hand made soaps and bath products Kaya Tattoos - with a selection of their merchandise like mens T shirts, gadgety things and tatto inspired wallets etc. Kittie Crystal Jewellery - unusual handmade jewellery (handmade by myself) and i'm possibly getting a photographic artist who specialises in tasteful female nudes, musicians in performance and architecture. I went to the Grosvenor and asked if I could rent space for this event and they were kind enough to offer me the space for free, so they are not making any money from it. I'm interested to know more about Nicolas Wheatley, is he a member on here?

Are there any distasteful female nudes? If Nick was a member here I think he may keep himself anonymous. 'Phone biik for Maryhill Art School. He knows Mr.King oersonally and has done a lot of work for him, so he may well be able to help you, if you wish to say "Bormes" suggested him I am sure he will be happy to help. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you. N.B. Have you thought of Betsy Grey? (I don't mean to be rude, Betsy does jewellery and she is across the road in the timber building next to Ruthven Lane)

;D lol, I said there was going to be stuff there to interest the boys. I'll certainly check out betsy grey and her jewellery. I haven't heard back from the nudie guy yet so i will pop into town and see him on Saturday, if he can't do it then i'll be looking for an artist to attend so if you know anyone who might be willing to come along message me their details. Currently i am organising a possible prize draw in exchange for peoples opinions on what they think of the event, how i could improve future events and what they thought of the promotion of the event etc. i'll keep you posted.
Cat x

Aw fab, thanks for all your help. If anyone is connected to the press and would be interested in doing a small piece on local business and supporting the local economy i'd love to hear from you. I have an update which might interest some of you.
You will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw for a HAMPER full of goodies on the night with a prize from the Grosvenor Cafe included along with goodies from all the stall holders. Full details will be available on the evening of the 18th. xx

Hi Squinty, That would be cool. hope to see you there. I have a young Artist called Sarah Rennie attending with her paintings and sketches. The photographer never got back to me and I was very lucky to find Sarah. Sarah paints iconic females and nudes, i'll get you a link to some of her work. x

Forgot to mention, The Grosvenor are giving the first 100 peple a glass of bubbly on the house:-) I didn't ask them to do this, they offered which I thought was good of them and the owner from Handbags and Gladrags (The best vintage/retro/2nd hand shop in Glasgow if you ask me) on Dumbarton RD has kindly donated a £20 gift voucher to be included in the hamper which will be won by one lucky person on Thursday. I'm really stunned at how supportive many people have been for this event. I only went in to the shop to ask if I could put some flyers out and came out with a voucher and some golden advice:-)

I was briefly in the lane last night and was given a flyer for this.... but was in the middle of a conversation, knew what it was for... and was sure the fair was tonight, ie Friday. I was fully intending to go along. Dang dang dang. Sorry I missed it. Total brainfart. I'm an eejit.

Kitty, How did it go for you? Music a wee bit loud and the lighting could have been better but the effort put in by the traders was excellent, I hope they benefited from it and at least their presence was noted by many.
