He Who Walks Amongst Us would be saddened, I know, if the melancholy was not tempered by joy, good humour and optimism. ;D That's all. Nup.... "... the peace, before the dreadful daylight starts Of unkept promises and broken hearts"

'Night Mister Walters... ...meh... www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1QJ8ijnNxM&feature=related"I remember being three or four years old. I remember my parents watching this show... hearing this song as i went to sleep... feeling this sense of comfort. Hearing it now gives me the same feeling; a feeling that everything is gonna be okay."This was the comfort song in our house...I have my late father's 78 still. Not the greatest quality clip but you'll get my drift I hope; www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZmgv1ywdkwI grew up listening to sublime harmonies and great melodies, explains a lot really ;D

I don't know anything at all about the Silencers.
I am amazed to find out that they're much older than I thought. I thought they were a modern thing (ie formed after c.1990, in which case I won't know them)
But naw - formed in 1986 apparently. I should have heard of them. They have passed me by.

Silencers, Normally fixed by thread to the muzzle of a firearm to slow and quieten the escaping gasses and make the discharge of the round much, much quieter and confuse the direction it was fired from. Not normally as quiet as the movies show though.

Never quite got there in terms of hit singles or albums but hey...not always a measure of greatness... Oddly they were the only Scottish band of the era to sell big style in France but hardly anywhere else in Europe. Spain and Germany were the biggest markets for most Scots bands... Back on the general weather theme.....here's the Proclaimers, with probably the most evocative violin solo ever........(apols in advance for the messy ads preceding) www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BDj4mr0fBc

And recognising the melancholy we all feel sometimes is what provides the joy, good humour and optimism. Here's some more melancholy-tinged feelgood music from Scotland; Roddy Frame; www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4pWcVPUybE&feature=relatedDanny Wilson; www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hqgC3W9GUIWe're good at this.
