It struck me again today that travelling by bus is like life in a tiny wee nutshell, viz;
This morning on the way to town, a young African guy just missed the No 11 when the driver'd shut the doors and moved off. The guy knocked earnestly but due to 'new rules' the driver's not allowed to let people on away from the bus-stop. Driver then apologised to the passengers, saying he's not allowed to let anyone on, then motioned to the bloke, as we all did, to run to the next stop just a hundred yards further down the road. Decent driver crawled all the way, making sure the guy caught up and overtook. At the next stop, guy gets on, everyone applauds him (and the driver)... ;D
On the way home, however, the opposite. A woman got on with her two kids. The elder, a girl of maybe 10, was desperately searching her bag for her return ticket. Driver decided to give it bloody awkward and didn't move away from the stop, keeping everyone waiting. While the lass searched her bag, getting more distressed by the minute. Her ma was shouting at her too (I didn't understand in which language but we got her drift.... ;D) probably out of embarrassment that the whole bus was being delayed.
At this point I was not the only one counting out small change in case the girl couldn't find the ticket. She'd got a bit teary. Anyways, the ma emptied the girl's bag onto the floor and guess what? The wee one went and presented the ticket to the driver and we finally got moving. I gave her a wee wink on the way back to her seat. The wee lass grinned back through her tears.
Trivial wee incidents, maybe But yet. ;D
