John Lewis TV xmas ad. Poor dug, left oot in a kennel away from the hoose and the people, on his own in the freezin cauld. Looks like I wasn't the only one who noticed that is not on: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-11795759 There's mair to the good life than people, JL. Good people do not leave a lone dug out on his own.

Wee Frees to allow, gasp...music in church! Well that's them to hell in a handcart; don't they know the Devil has all the best tunes? Apparently they believe that 'allowing' music might attract a whole new membership. You know what? I'm almost tempted. Not. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-11795996

I hate to say it, but I really like the sound of the traditional psalms, done the way they do them. Sounds remarkably like American indian tribal incantation-type stuff. Nae doot this'll bring about yet another Disruption....

From today's SMH Column 8
"Your recent mention of the roadside sign displaying 'Insert memory card' reminded me of another interesting gaffe,'' writes Tony Stott, of Foster. ''In China there is a restaurant called 'Translator Server Error'. I feel for the owner, who clearly tried to provide his restaurant with an Anglo-friendly name.'' Tony sent us a picture - it really does exist."
On the other side of coin my Chines Partner was at a "do" where he got talking to a lady with a little Chinese tattoo on her upper arm. He got another guy to ask her what it meant. She told him "peace & love". It actually read "Arrogant white woman"

There are hooses there, and obvious settlement.... but how on earth do those wee inhabited atolls, about as isolated as you can be on this planet... how do those people get their Stuff?? Scary. Too small, too fragile, too far away.

Too small, too fragile, too far away. There it is.... Tokelau. Completely invisible, a tiny tiny speck in the middle of these images: maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Tokelau&sll=55.795854,-4.627375&sspn=0.023497,0.077162&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Tokelau&ll=-9.102097,-172.792969&spn=77.903312,225&t=h&z=3 maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Tokelau&sll=55.795854,-4.627375&sspn=0.023497,0.077162&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Tokelau&t=h&ll=-9.102097,-172.792969&spn=21.017345,39.506836&z=5 * gibber * Yet there are houses, and windows, and ropes, and roads, and boats, and manmade fabrics and prolly tvs and fridges and computers.... How??

They have trading ships. Used to be Burns Philp 2 scots guys that founded a trading empire all over the SW Pacific. Now most Islanders head to NZ or Fiji to work & send $$$ home.
Live on fishing, copra and pigs.
It is governed by NZ. They voted for indepencence but decided they didnt want it (NZ subsidises them)

In Adelaide a Wedding group were down at Glenelg Pier havng their wedding pics took when an elderly lady (not part of the wedding party) fell into the water. The Best man in all his finery dived in after her & pulled her ashore unconscious. The bride, a nurse, immediately started CPR in all her finery until the the Ambos arrived. Thay said she had saved the lady's life. I would love to see the wedding photos www.adelaidenow.com.au/groom-jumps-off-glenelg-jetty-to-save-woman/story-e6frea6u-1225962663185

The girl who is playing holly in Emmerdale is breaking my heart. I can hardly watch, she looks so lost. Sometimes it is a shock to remember some of this stuff is just acting. Kudos to SOPHIE POWLES for this classy performance.
