Pretty sure that the viewing figures for 2014 would be higher in England than for Delhi, because more athletes would be participating and it is more accessible. I think the Beeb is taking a close look at the cost for the worldwide aurdience.

Hmmm, yes, have now read it.... and what it says to me (despite the fact that it's Indian press and therefore can be expected to talk up the Games) - is that Delhi has been a disaster, hasn't it!? Even this Indian press isn't denying it.

Aussies usually are first to get up to mischief. In the Mexico games where the authorities had kindly lent the athletes bicycles it was our mob that unilaterly decided that the rules of the road within the village demanded that bicycles should be ridden on the left so they did. They were backed up by the Brits. The Indians are a bit pissed off with us now. There have been a few Indian students robbed here & the Indian press are howling. The worst case was where one guy was robbed, his car set on fire & he was badly burned. The Indians went mad about it. It transpired that it was an insurance fraud the guy had set fire to his own car & had got burned. Also most of the assaults were fights between students. This was pointed out to the Indian Media by the Indian High Commission here... not the most popular thing to do To make matters worse we are beating them in medal tally.
