There's two arseholes from Gourock/greenock in a similar position in some south/central American jail for similar offences. These two are well known local fannies.
One of their mothers was in the paper moaning that the authorities there took his mobile phone aff him, so he can't now text her night-night. And she can't call him to see how he is, she's currently constantly raising money to visit him, apparently he's as pure as the driven snow ( not as pure as what he was smuggling though)

Ae you say Rolo ... poor parents
Just as well it wasnt Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia. The penalty for carrying that amount of drugs is death and they enforce it

You are quite right about that OZ, kind of makes me wish that any of these people from these countries should be returned to them to be tried over there, not in Europe!! I would do the same in Afghanistan or Iraq, hand them over to the local Tribal Chief to have their justice imparted, particularly the UK ones who are over there fighting our Troops. Unfortunately it will not happen.

Come "liberation" production went through the roof, its a cash crop, poor farmers don't give a shit what it's for, they just need to survive. Funnily enough the "liberators" done fuck all to stop them. Now the insurgents are using it against the "liberators" as not only a way to fund their campaign but as a weapon against these "liberators" to be used at home.

Wow, I didn't know that, Nota Interesting theories abounding about these two girls, some suggest they could have been threatened/blackmailed into their drug run. Well, maybe. And maybe not........ Details are coming out about the Lenzie family: well to do, in that they have a £400K detached home. You'd imagine their girl wanted for little.......so it's hard to know what to make of this all. Plus apparently she'd only been working in Ibiza a month and didn't know the Irish girl at all before then. Very very strange/bad.

Like the ira the Tribes have been selling Opium in Afghanistan well BEFORE the liberators arrived as did the ones in charge before the Talibs. Nota is however correct that the amount now being harvested and sold is higher than almost any other producer in the world now!! Funnily enough members of the Parachute Regiment a couple of years ago were strongly suspected of setting deliberate fire to a huge swath of Poppies over bye, the C.O.had asked for permission to destroy the crop as the Talibs were observed taking the crop and local intelligence had given proof it was them. Strangely the lame excuse was that local farmers needed the money as other crops would not grow or be so productive !! The C.O. And the advance party left for the UK and the night before the rest of the lads left a Diesel Tanker was stolen and emptied all round the fields of the crop and three Talibs who were guarding the crops went missing, the crops then mysteriously caught fire!! What a strange but probably overall ineffectual incident, but quite a good result anyway.

The Talibans rather black n white atitude to law and legality was obviously in the vast majority of cases a tad severe

General Dostan a famous anti Talibs general had prisoners inside containers behind lorries going to the prison. Some UN guy kicked up hell about the conditions the prisoners were being held in. No ventilation etc., General Dostan had a couple of his men fire machine guns at the sides to air the containers for the UN guy. He was most surprised at the UN chap almost having a seizure at the result of his quick thinking way of ventilating the containers.

While ye cannae really condone that, you kin see the funny side in a black humour sort of way Thats the strange thing about trying to impose western values on primitive folks

Agreed. Circumstances cause strange things to happen. I remember a soldier from another European country driving around in a Jeep with a head stuck on each of his two Ariels and such were the circumstances in this part of Africa at the time that in the whole time we were there a number of months, no one bothered after a day or so and difficult to understand in life over here and now, it bothered no one. In Afghanistan all sorts of things happen from both sides and in fairness our lot are pretty decent in the scheme of things but you can not judge how men behave in a wartime situation from our safe living room armchairs, that is why I get so angry with most politicians.

Which is why films like Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter and A Few Good Men needed to be made, IMV. All still stand the test of time and are just as relevant now as they were then.

Yes good movies too like Schindlers List are always relevant. However more honesty from the Media would be the best thing to happen, next to birth control that is !!

The story of the young girls in Peru is taking some mighty strange twists and turns.
What seems true is that the girl from Lenzie had got it in with a pretty dodgy crowd within a month of arriving to work in Ibiza. Apparently the friend she went over with returned within a few weeks having not liked what was going on.
I can only imagine how her parents must have felt waving her off at 19 to the ultimate 'party' island. Hoping no doubt they'd brought her up with a modicum of judgement and self preservation.
I really feel for them. And I hope the girls are telling the truth that they were forced into their actions because the alternative's just so awful.
Yet again, we must look at legalising Class A drugs and cut off the criminal element.

Rolo, surely you do not think that shite is true? They had been partying like no tomorrow and the Spanish Cop is the only one speaking the truth. I do feel sorry for both their parents and I feel a bit sorry for them being so silly, we could all have made silly mistakes as youngsters in fact I am sure most of us have at some time, I was just lucky not to have been caught !!
