Don't know about you guys, but I can't be arsed with tv much any more, just so much utter crap, it's not worth switching it on 99% of the time.. <god, I sound old... ;D>
BUT, I was recently recommended Inspector Montalbano on BBC 2 on a Saturday night. It's an Italian import, subtitled, two hour feature length series. Set in Sicily, the writing, acting and characterisation's just brilliant.
Bit of a slow-burner, takes a couple of episodes to get into it, but well worth it--it's very funny, very smart and unlike the majority of UK and US tv, worth watching.
Anyone else seen it yet?

Young Montalbano was brilliant too, it was on here over late summer. I loved how the characters translated so authentically while the Sicilian scenery and lifestyle was virtually unchanged. I don't know anyone who's seen The Killing who doesn't rate it. I managed to miss the whole series, somehow. Maybe one for the Santa list this year. Never heard of Miss Fisher, is it on satellite or something? I don't subscribe to Sky myself. Mr and Ms Rolo have both been literally addicted to Breaking Bad this past couple of months. Pretty dark by all accounts

Pretty dark by all accounts It's on a channel called alibi, which is on satylite Where we are freeview isn't receivable due to a mixture of terrain and shite transmitter, analogue tv was a blizzard and as far as dab radio is concerned, it might as well be a transporter device. Even mobile phone signals come and go The only option is sky in reality

Not any better here, Nota. Moby signal in the house is dire. Dab radio equally crap. Here in the tat I have the Roberts on but if you walk in front of it or plug anything in, instant feedback. Don't start me on the telly. 150+ channels, almost all of which unwatchable, giving it that mental pixellating thing. Retuned over and over, no better. HELL, ain't that progress for ya. Used to be we had three channels, and when the picture rolled, with big black ziggy zaggy lines, you just gave it an almighty thump and presto! Now it's all maintenance contracts and fecking Genius Bars. Harrumph! (well, Westie's fecked off again so SOMEONE has to do it )

(well, Westie's fecked off again so SOMEONE has to do it ) You need a better aerial, unfortunately to get a decent freeview signal we would need something akin to a pylon but with no guarantee of a decent picture When we moved here, itv wasn't on sky, so we spent £240 on an aerial setup to enable mrs nota to watch corrie, in the blizzard. 6 weeks later itv became available on sky. Ach well at least the burds hud somewhere to hing oot.

Was watching TV last night a programme on Loch Lomond and thought of you people amongst those interviewed were Sandy Mcfarlane boatbuilder of Balmaha and Dougal Scott a farmer on Inchmurran??
Lovely little programme must have been faked though it wasnt raining. Absolutely gorgeous scenery was made in 2013 .. Cant remember guys name, He does quite a number of Scottish travel programmes quick grabs not long enough to be really interesting.

I was friends with Sandy's dad and grandfather sadly both passed away, his Dad young in a car accident and Alec his Granpa years later. It is a beautiful place OZ and if you google it my pal Sandy Fraser has the Oak Tree Inn, all the wood inside the Bar I gave him from an old old Oak tree that was struck by lightning on our farm if you google the Inn look slightly East to Buchanan Castle, there is a golf club and an old castle there and the farm and farm house with the large conservatory was our old farm we built the house down there and it was a wonderful place. Full of history, one of the Dukes of Montrose was executed by the crown for treason!! Hess from WW2 was kept in the castle during the war before being sent to Germany. He was a friend of the Duke. The current Duke's father went to Rhodesia when Ian Smith declared UDI. Salmon fishing river, the Endrick and lots of game shooting. Lovely place.
