300 million a year!
That's what ex-pat British people cost the Spanish health service. Currently, around 300,000 Brits are *officially* registered as living in Spain. However it's thought that in reality, more than double that number live there and take advantage of their services.
Bormes, what is it about the EU (via UKiP's manifesto) that you believe to be unfair?
Do you believe we'd be better out of Europe?

On that note, we hear a lot of talk about being out of the EU ( but in the EEA/EFTA ) would be so much better- I fail to understand why. Taking Norway as an example, not in EU but in EEA - it has to pay teh same amount of money, obey all EU directives - in fact everything every EU member has to do without having any representation at the EU parliament - this applies if you want to do trade business in the EU

Rolo, I HATE quangos, I HATE unelected people making decisions for our elected people. Incidentally the comment about Spain or France for example regarding health care is not fully explained because no matter where in Europe one has treatment one's home country PAYS any difference in one' s health costs and there is a reciprocal tax agreement as well. I am quite happy with movement around Europe for Europeans and I greatly value a trade agreement, I do not like how we interpret the "laws" about how we must operate our businesses and yet when you travel around Europe it is virtually ONLY the YUK that accepts these "laws" There seems , no there IS a lack of common sense in many dictats from Europe's unelected officials and they are pushing for a United States of Europe with everyone having the same laws and rules throughout. I disagree with this. That does not make me a u kip supporter though.

I suppose my point was intended as tongue in cheek, Bormes Because I'm sick to death of hearing the rampant xenophobia of certain UKE redtop papers, particularly their current insane Bulgarian/Romanian rant. No surprise I'm agreeing with you on the free movement of Europeans within Europe! However if the UKIP buffoons get their way(and they just might, temporarily, if England takes leave of its senses) then Scotland and Scots could suffer. Yeah, there are layers of bureaucracy in the EU, and yeah, trying to put rules and regs together with such a varying membership is always going to be trying. But leaving the EU would be a horrendous, disastrous mistake, IMV, and in the event of a NO vote in September, Scotland would remain bound by the dictats of Westmonster re that. It's another serious factor in the discussion we Scots need to have this year. That's all!

Seems strange to me so many Brits want to leave UK and yet so many others want to go there

No not so far, however after the last total fiasco no wonder some, most people were a bit worried it could happen AGAIN. I checked, there is a reciprocal agreement with the EU countries so it costs Spain etc nothing.

Seems strange to me so many Brits want to leave UK and yet so many others want to go there Oz, I was (half) joking about British migrants, the point being no other country's press, as far as I know, engages in total panic when people migrate into their country unlike the UKE English redtops who've gone completely OTT on this Rumania/Bulgaria thing. Re Brits leaving, I'd suggest the reason for that is that the UKE's become a low-wage economy with insane property prices and a ridiculously high cost of living, from energy to food to consumer goods. So it's no wonder people with skills and a wish to graft think they may have a better life elsewhere. Also true to say I think that the obscene and growing DIVISION of wealth in the UKE is offending an awful lot of people, me included.

Well have you all been over run by Eastern Hordes? Oddly enough, no. Unless you count Chinese students of course...

I heard he was volunteering to pick up rubbish on Wimbledon Common, Nota. Yeah - but he's bringing in an extended family of relatives ( nephews and nieces) too
