You know that thing where you ALWAYS ALWAYS answer calls from certain folks no matter the time of day or how 'busy' you are? Today was truly mental, workwise. Meeting on train to Ed, uneccessarily uber-long meet IN Ed , then three more back in Glasgow, ffs. Finally got a toilet break at 5pm for the first time today-- only to find a missed call on phone from my mother. Who never phones in working hours.. Panic stations, something must be wrong..... Heart beating loud I call her back. ME; Are you OK, what's up, has something happened? Mother: Did you see it? Me; What? Mother; IT! Me: Eh? Mother: It was fantastic, it did a circuit above the house, flew in really low! Me: (thinking vulture gone off course, some mad drone or other, an eagle maybe, a flying squirrel???) Mother; It was the Emirates Airbus 380, silly! Me (breathes sigh of relief, remembering we're SUCH an airyplane family after all...) Mother's 85 this year My late dad (ex RAF, BEA and BA) would've been so proud she totally enjoyed that today. I'm minded---when I win the Euromillions--to take her on the damned gorgeous thing. Not for Dubai, just for the plane....

Reminded me That and strange meetings.
A few weeks ago the Captain of a QANTAS A380 enroute SYD LAX got a radio call from his son, who had recognised his voice on air, who was flying an RAAF C17 Seattle to Richmond. They passed within a few miles of each other.
