You should get the wean an external backup device so she kin keep her important stuff, er backed up The apple backup software, built in tae yer mac - Timemachine - is excellent In bold - no no no. If you get a keyboard the next thing you'll be getting is a stand for the ipad, then a printer to attach to it, an external hard drive and disk reader/writer, a desk to put it all on and before you know it you'll almost have a desktop system. And that won't fit in your handbag! I love my ipad because it's self contained and I don't need anything else to get the best from it. The on-screen keyboard did feel strange to me at first but now I don't have a problem with it. The only accessory I have is a case to protect my precious darling. No no no, Mini! Keyboard only, if that. I'm getting more used to the touchscreen (when I get a shot on it that is.... . Already have the external hard drive for the laptop. So NO MORE PURCHASES! I did though, *blush*, protect my investment with a nifty wee case that doubles as a stand, brilliant design!. I figure it'd be good money after bad if I let the thing roll around my handbag unprotected from all the other shite that's in there..that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! Next up: how to resist the free games apps. So many middle aged women I know are totally hooked on Candy Crush, eeeeek.

Aha, well that's the thing, Nota: normally sensible, wise women are doing just that! Anyways, I get the new iPad back tomorrow night and looking forward to a) not having to lug the laptop back and forth daily and 2) practising my very bad touchscreen typing Wean's toiling a bit this past fortnight: she was a bit unlucky with the exam schedule: six papers since last Wednesday, last one tomorrow. Testing stuff, indeed, when many others' exams are spread over the 6 weeks or so. I just tell her it's like stepping up a gear and to get used to it, it'll serve her well, that kind of pressure, in the world of w*rk. Mr R most supportive by driving the wee exhausted soul to the early doors (9am) ones. I get to test her on her references as an aide memoire and I've learned loads as usual! A wee bit tiring but...after a long w*rk day.. Anyways, I saw her head of dept, the mighty Paddy O'Donnell (who was teaching at Gla Uni when I was there and also taught my younger sister) in Waitrose earlier. I was SO tempted to sidle up and ask him if he might drop me a clue about tomorrow's exam questions in exchange for a bottle of fine wine... Needless to say, I didnae.

It didnae matter how good, crap, indifferent yer touch-screen typing is, the predictive text will conspire against you anyways It's a devious fekker, so beware
