Gerry McCann charged with downloading child porn .

There is a lot of talk on the web that Gerry McCann was arrested and charged for downloading child porn before his child's abduction.
The Police file and the number has been posted on the net but the file had allegedly been hacked and deleted, however the number is allegedly still there.
If this is not true then surely the Police should go after the person who has originally posted it and charge them?
However it seems the retired journalist is not hiding who he is and so far has not only not been charged but has not even been written to by McCann's solicitors?
I would hope McCann would sue the pants from this person if this is a lie?

I'd imagine that anyone falsely accused would instruct lawyers on their behalf.

Gerry McCann's not slow on the uptake when it comes to that kind of stuff. I imagine his *people* are all over such allegations.

Unfortunately?? It is getting worse with leaked documents now being posted and a very large number of decent serious people posting all sorts of information and with the tapas 9 refusing to say a word it is building up to a very, very strange situation.
No solicitor has even contacted any of these people nor the International search dog owner who has contributed a lot, in fact there is now Police file numbers naming. G McCann and still no complaint??
If a friend of mine was being accused and I was a witness I would be shouting down anyone who mis called him or her.
I can not understand any of this.
There is a call to have our Attorney General and Home Secretary involved, only a deafening silence so far?

Where are you getting this info from, Bormes? Is it accredited genuine stuff on the internet?

You'll understand the need to be careful here on a public forum re allegations. And there are a lot of conspiracy theorists out there on the net.

That said, on a personal level I've never been able to understand why the families concerned would leave their tiny children alone in the evenings or why they'd even BEGIN to risk them waking and being distressed when their parents are not in the apartment. It's not like as doctors they couldn't afford the babysitting service in the holiday complex.

But folks differ in their attitudes to safety and to their kids of course.

I am only mentioning the ones that are leaked from the Police files from Portugal, the book written by the Policeman who was in charge, the official report from the handler of the two Dogs, reports from Police files.
I have posted nothing in comparison to what is out there after a tiny look about this strange case.
My own confusion on the whole thing is how none of the friends have come out fighting on their behalf?
My friend who lives in Portugal has given a number of statements to the Police, I mentioned on a post at the time, she has the flat above the one where the incident took place.
Had it been Billy and Senga frae Possil, they would have been charged with neglect and the other two Bairns taken into care.
There are constantly stories of single Mums going out for a drink or shopping and the Weans being left in the house, even footballers and their wives leave kids in cars!,

I must concur with MrB - a quick google will provide more inforamtion ( some official, some anecdotal) than you kin shake a stick at.

They are indeed very litigious, alas being litigious doesn't always pan out in the long term.

That erse robert maxwell was very litigious, getting reporting of him and his dodgy dealiongs closed down in teh press because they al became highly afraid of him ( well apart from Private eye) - look how it all turned out to be true once it all came out in the wash.

I have seen a lot of the above, Bormes, but didn't recall seeing anything about child porn charges, that's why I was asking.

Was your friend the lady who reported hearing the children cry for their parents several evenings running?
I can't tell you how much that evidence brought me to tears at the time and even now..

I agree with you about *lower status* parents being treated much more harshly. Leaving kids unattended is either an offence or it's not! The parents' status should not be a factor.

There were so many things that struck me as odd at the time: how quickly Gerry's *connections in high places* got involved for one thing. I also thought his brother and sister came over quite belligerently in the immediate TV interviews but perhaps it was just shock talking.

The current investigation, ordered by David Cameron, is costing millions of taxpayers cash. If it finds the wee girl, it's worth every penny. But how awful for other parents of missing children...

In a few weeks, chez Rolo will be going karting at our favourite track high in the hills at Regencos. The lovely Catalan couple that run the place put a Help Find Madeleine poster up at reception all those years ago. They've never removed it since.

I often think of that poor wee girl and seeing the poster in the same place every year is encouraging yet upsetting in equal measure.

Quite a lot Rolo about him being charged BEFORE the holiday and although the file is still there it has been hacked and deleted, according to the Police!
