This must be a wind up, you've tellt us before that it never rains there................... Actually we get more rain than you 1302mm against 1109mm in Glasgow mind you it only rains in 143 days here against your 201. We dsont get that depressing continual drizzle it come in big dollops perhaps 40mm in an hour or so then clouds roll away, very unusual to rain all day. Bit warmer here av 18°C against your 9°C Now if you go to my home city, Brisbane, the figures are the rainfall 1225 mm on 124 days and ave temp 21°C wonderful climate! BTW QANTAS has several flights a day to Sydney inverkip 1154mm do you know an Oz company called Hills by the way? - seem to have their fingers in many pies

Started off making rotarty clothes hoists (Hills hoists) after the war Most houses in Australia and NZ have one. From there they diversified to TV aerials and lots of communication stuff big stuff www.hills.com.au/ Never hear much about them but they are always there with no dramas. Why you ask?

One of my oldest friends has lived in Sydney for 20+ years now, he was founding director of an IT company there - LAN1 ( lan1.com.au) they've been bought over by Hills - as one of the two original partners, he's made a fair bit, he's know head of technical services ( IT) for Hills - somehow I don't see that lasting though as I think that was part of the deal to keep continuity for an agreed time. When his parents moved to OZ ( Perth) in 1982, they were only there a few months when they won the state lottery - not a fortune by todays standards but enough to start them off well We call the clothes things - whirly gigs

Good luck to him.
I know I couldn't stand the regimentation of a big company (stuck Qld Govt for 7 months)I preferred the informality of a small outfit though Lan aint small. I think Hills must be a good company to work for. This amazing deduction is made by not reading in papers about any industrial disputes there or any bad things said about them.
Whirlygig to me is a roof ventilator that revolves in the wind taking hot air out of roof space.

We had 55mm of liquid sunshine yesterday Oooh, that's a lot! I can smell the eucalypts from here! Today I was in Ayr for a meeting at the UWS campus. I never cease to marvel at the micro-climate just as you approach Prestwick. Suddenly the skies clear and the sun shines over the Firth of Clyde with THE most wonderful views of all the links golf-courses and the isle of Arran. Just stunning! Not for the first time I consider moving out of town. My lecturer pal's thinking the same, and has checked out what's on offer property-wise. Amazingly, we could swop our Victorian flats in Glasgow for similar size ones down there for half the price. Another mate's just moved to Dalry. Got a beautiful estate cottage with about an acre of land with change from her two bed flat up the road here. And a river runs through it...beatiful.

here you are plenty of eucalypts Good thing about Glasgow is it easy to get out of and surrounded with gorgeous places Sydney is in a basin with Blue mountains to West (pic) with 2 roads through. To South is the Royal National Park with only 2 roads through and to North is Broken Bay and one decent road To east the Pacific result houses are expensive or you have to travel miles and miles to get cheaper ones

Except I think it's north of Syd around the Newcastle area, or on that road anyway. Think might just have been there, once.
