264 applications were received across all the art forms (music, film, dance, visual art, theatre, multi-art forms) and less than half were successful. Only three music organisations have been awarded at least a 30% increase on previous years plus three-year Core Funded Organisation status. Me and my team were one of them. That is fantastic! I know I have not been here much lately, but you had me genuinely nervous about the result. That is wonderful! Having a rather large Bombay tonight, in the hope of a straight 8 hour sleep, for the first time in months. Have the whole of Bombay/Mumbai. Take Manhattan, then take Berlin! Have the whole of the year's harvest of juniper berries! I am massively pleased for you, and for your team. And a boss who truly cares for the work and the staff is rather more rare than you might think. So I'm sure your team love you very much now! That sword of Damocles is gone. Congratulations! .. I really want to see more money invested in the arts and a lot less in weapons, illegal wars, layers of government and you know, waste. Ah, can't really see Cameron, Miliband, Clegg going for that. 'Cos it might be - you know - a bit sensible. Can't have that.

Thanks, Oz and Celyn fairly relieved to have secured our organisation till 2018. Now I know what's coming in, I can plan to fill the couple of vacancies we have, and put an end to us all working truly mental hours to cover the gaps More than half the applications weren't able to be supported though and those people (that's one hell of a lot of people) are now having to apply for 'Project' funding. And while many will get it, it's a relatively insecure way of running an organisation and will lead to even more scrabbling for trust and foundation funding. Come December, there will be a lot of people looking for alternative work or having to go freelance because they've not secured project funding. It's my hope that Creative Scotland will hammer home the demand by lobbying the Scottish Parliament for more investment in the arts. I was pleased that, in music, there's been more investment in young people through the National Youth Choir, the National Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Jazz orchestra. Plus the excellent Red Note Ensemble and of course, US!--who support, champion, promote and yeah, SELL Scotland's music worldwide. Just out of interest, (if you're indeed interested!) the bulk of investment from CS this time around has gone towards theatre, film and dance, with upgrades for producing companies and many venues that work across all the arts, particularly those in outlying areas.
