I figured something was badly "up" early last night, the polis helicopter was pretty much overhead for two hours.
Then there was uber-heavy traffic down our street, including a double-decker 60a that usually goes via Maryhill Rd. (That got totally stuck, more of which shortly.)
It turns out someone drove up onto a pavement in Sandbank St at 7 in the evening and hit a man and two 10 year old girls, one of whom died in Yorkhill Children's hospital today. Her friend and uncle are in hospital gravely injured. So sad.
The car was found abandoned in a nearby street.
Whether it's been a car-theft gone hideously wrong or a deliberate act of some kind is not clear yet, but just so, so horrific.
My heart just goes out to neighbours involved who're truly suffering tonight as a result of this terrible criminal act.
Only 10 years old. For shame.

Someone after the Uncle?? Or a dope head accident? I am certain he will be caught. Indeed, Bormes. Fairly sketchy thus far but Maryhill's finest seem to have got their man. The weird thing is that it turns out it was a hire car, so easily traceable to the hirer. Didn't take long. news.stv.tv/west-central/300124-christopher-hannah-in-court-charged-with-causing-hit-and-run-death/The name's vaguely familiar to me, just can't place how/why. Terrible crime. Bormes's instinct's uncannily on the mark, too, sadly Those poor people, two still in hospital and another family bereaved. Hideous.

Out his head on smack, offered to hand itself in on Monday with his lawyer but the Police dragged him in at 3am on Sunday morning. He had been racing about the area out of his head for a while, scumbag.

Out his head on smack, offered to hand itself in on Monday with his lawyer but the Police dragged him in at 3am on Sunday morning. He had been racing about the area out of his head for a while, scumbag. Fuxache. Huge crackdown by Scottish Government on drink-driving, lowering the limits (good idea) but it's but a drop in the ocean, given so many drive when out of their heads on drugs (prescription or otherwise). Is there more to this than meets the eye, though? Why the hire car? Part of a bigger 'deal', you have to wonder. Fucking scumbag, as you say. He's killed a wee girl, and critically injured another plus their uncle. Utter grief for so many in the community. NO jail term can ever BEGIN to make up for that.
