A highly silly, pointless and guilt-inducing practice of course, (specially for us here who're hurtling towards old age ) but just for fun... what are yours?I'll kick it off: I hereby resolve to: 1) work smarter, not longer Bring in more money to share out amongst the team. 2) spend MUCH more of my year in Catalonia 3) eat far more puddings, (yes! especially sherry trifle and home-made rhubarb crumble) 4) stop fretting about not having renewed tat for 20 years-- cos retro is now IN! 5) quit laughing (out loud anyway ) at twattish next door neeb 6) stop being angry with fragile plants that fail in North-facing garden and just plant rhubarb instead 7) replace laptop with smaller lighter laptop so as can trek up bliddy Cleveden Hill without stopping three times 8) challenge any neeb with serious violence should they allow their dog shit outside my gate 9) Be slightly less annoyed at people who sit on the outside aisle on the bus while their bags take up the window seat SO BLOODY ANNOYING 10) Slap every male personage who urges me, going about my daily business, to 'give us a smile, luv, it can't be that bad" Just a few of my First World Problems Youse?

Not get the worst of colds at xmas this year - spent most of xmas week in my bed, including most of xmas day.
Not fall on the wet grass in the back garden, damaging my knee and putting a hair line fracture in my foot ( if a hair line fracture causes that amount of pain and discomfort, fek having a full blown one)
Regarding number two above, attempt to understand why dug just looks down at you, with an expression of "whit ra fuck are you doing doon there?" instead of making like lassie or skippy and running for help
Keep up the weight loss programme - seems to be gong great guns due to not eating and drinking due to feeling shite most of the time

What a total f*cker. How annoying is that, not only getting sick on the holidays and then to add injury to insult, falling over and hurting yourself. Rains, pours. Sure hope you wereny stricken out back too long before someone came to help---not yer dug, obviously Worst of colds is doing the rounds, no comfort I'm sure, but it so is. Mr Rolo's been miserable with it, as has wean's boyf. They're a-coughing and a-sneezing this past week: Ms Rolo and I, however, are adopting an aggressive stance and taking refuge in Amaretto and the fine Bombay as if to kill virusii stone-deid. Have to say, it's working for us thus far. Sure hope you feel a bit more like the thing soon, Nota. Take care, keep warm and let yours run after you. (not the dug, obviously...)

Aye cheers - nah the dug jist wondered if we were going furra walk or no' - took me about 10 minutes to get up and limp on, met neighbour oot with his dug, had to explain why i was boggin and soakin wet all doon one side, didn't feel to bad until next day when I got up and it was pure agony To make matters worse I tried the flu jab again this year back in early november, might as well I thought, thats the twice I've had it ( 2011) and now I've ended up bedded over xmas, last time wae bronchitis and this time as described, sinuses blocked, raging headaches coz of that - never again - another resolution, nae flu jabs this year

But I've to have an MRI scan on it to see if I've damaged my cruciate ligament. I've also got a big Velcro type brace thing to wear as a support, jeezo its uncomfortable so I only put it on for walking a bit Didn't have any jab side effects at time and I didn't catch the type of lu it guards against apparently, hey ho

Thats good glad it curing. MRI scans are a bugger 2 sessions of 20 minutes lying motionless while the stupid thing grunts and beeps at you. At least that was mine when looking at my spine.
The operator told me that they cant do it on polliticians... I walked right in and asked ....was told ... "NO BACK BONE".... groan

Pure comedy. Good the medics are on it though, via MRI scans. I was in the queue for one a few years back, the guy in front took a total whitey and went "I'm no gettin in that thing" and ran away. I grit my teeth and did it anyway. Let's just say I'd rather have been anywhere else, my wee heart was giving it palpitations, it's a bit scary being in the wee confined space. But worth going through it for the reassurance, in the end. Or to get ahead of what's ailing you if you're unlucky... Flu jabs: here's the thing: flu only causes life-threatening conditions in the very young, the very old and those who're already seriously weakened by immune suppression. Only they should get the jab, in my view. Pointless for people who are generally well. I'm a wee bit immune-suppressed and supposed to take the flu jab every winter. I did it conscientiously the first few years after my transplant. But every winter for the past what, five..I've not bothered to. And I've barely had even a mild cold since, despite folks around me a-coughing and a-sneezing in a highly infectious manner. I'm aye out and about, mixing with folks and using public transport all the time, and I don't get precious about immune-status, cos I'm lucky in that I'm generally well. So far, so good. Anyway, every year's flu jabs are based on previous year's strain and don't protect against newer mutated strains. Flu is not 'the cold'. Me and the wean both had 'proper' flu when she was tiny. You're rendered pretty helpless for a few days. SO not a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough

You're rendered pretty helpless for a few days. SO not a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough ah huvnae walked the dug since a fell, unfortunately he's old and stiff and cannae manage the 3 stairs at the front and side doors any merr, so he has to go oot the patio doors which are level wae ra decking, then its only one wee step doon ( or up) onto the back grass. if i'm walking him again i'll go oot ra front door and mrs nota kin take him roon the front tae meet me. Luckily we can walk him off the lead as he's obedient ( he's corn beef noo tae though) but would struggle tae walk/run faster than me even wae ma gammy leg. thon big strap on velcro super hi-tech stookie thing is rather good if ye just want tae stand, its really supportive but walking is nae use ( its a sort of douglas bader meets frankenstein sort a movement) anyways i always get a severe cauld around this time, been getting them furra past ten years or so, 3/4 years ago on wee notas professional advice and coz it wiz free frae him, i gave it a bash - 6 weeks or so later, still cold free - result thought me, got a chest infection start of xmas week. so ditched the jab the following years and was fine, hardly a cauld never mind anything else - this year phoned up tae renew ma prescription and the practice nurse says come and get yer flu jab - she's convinced i'm asthmatic despite me only being allergic to the dugs hair ( i got tested to check) when he's casting and my lung capacity being in the upper quartile of normality - i use an inhaler only when the dug is casting and even then thats hardly ever - but the inhaler comes in handy if one does get a chesty cauld, so i have to keep her sweet - she moans that i dont use it enough FFS next year i'm not having any jab and jist going to wing it again

next year i'm not having any jab and jist going to wing it again My wee mum gets some manner of a chest infection every year about this time, too, Nota. She'd a pneumonia-type infection years ago and it's left her succeptible to even a wee bit of a cold, that most folks would just fight off. The Flu jab is ineffective for those like her, as its a viral not a bacterial thing. The only folks that really need the flu jab in the UKE are those who's immune systems are a bit compromised. It doesn't protect that well against current strains cos it's been developed from past strains--but hell, gie those folks it anyway, I say, if it helps at all to protect em-- even in a small way. Still laughing ( I so shouldn't) over visions of you giving it Bader/Frankenstein with your hefty bandage. I'll go to the bad fire, obviously. Or get prosecuted for an offensive social media post........eeeek.

Gave up on the big blue Velcro stookie thing, took about 20 minutes to strap it on, to much like hard work Foot almost back to normal, jist a wee bit stiff but no pain Knee still weak, stiff and the odd twinge from it, gets uncomfortable at times. MRI scan this Wednesday coming The joys of visiting inverclyde royal again, which due to having a shite fortnight, was the biggest social gathering I attended this festive period, even if the other users made it seem like the bar in Star Wars, but that's greenock for ye
