Thats sad but he had a good innings and Im sure a happy life
They say misfortunes come in 3s ....
We lost my brother-in-law over the Xmas /New Year holidays. I could not attend his funeral. Expired Passport, Public holidays and reduced staff. With all the help they could give me they couldnt guarantee a new one to me in under 10 days though they would try, then busy flights, quickest I could get there was, if every thing went right about 36 hours after funeral ( flight Singapore, Amsterdam , Inverness) If any hiccough even later so regretfully we abandoned the idea.
But praise for all the people I dealt who all had a genuine desire to help and not forgetting the "Flower Company" Inverness who went the extra mile to ensure our floral tribute was delivered on time, they even emailed us a pic of the flowers ... excellent service.

Oz, Your post has just come up. Please send sympathy to your wife and to you. Difficult when you are so far away? Did she make it back? If she did is she still here? I will PM you is she has to fly through Glasgow and we will look after her and I am certain Rolo, Nota and others would love to meet her? Unfortunately for sad reasons, Sympathy to you and yours, B.

Sincere thanks Bormes .... Unfortunately both our passports had expired more than 10 years so neither of us could make it.
It was very sudden and quick
Thank you very much for your kindness we really appreciate it.
As They say "its Life" and we will live with it

Ach Oz, that's a shame but I understand how you feel, a cousin of mine's funeral was on 23/12 in darkest East Anglia, logistically there was no way we could make it - but we're going to a memorial service and the scattering of her ashes in her native Londonderry around March. Hope you and Mrs Oz are bearing up

Thanks Nota I appreciate it
Its more a feeling of helplessness and frustration at not being able to do anything although I knew people, whose names I will never know, were doing their best to help.

Oz, sending love and hugs to you and Mrs Oz from me and mine. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Mrs Oz's brother. We're all far apart so often, in terms of miles. But there with you in spirit, nevertheless. xxx

Thanks Rolo I really appreciate it.
When you reach my age you start realising you aint immortal so its not too much of a shock though it still hits you.
It would be nice to think of something is in the hereafter like 70 virgins but that would a) kill me all over again and b) knowing my luck be 12th century nuns to whom soap was unknown.
