I swear, today, I nearly lost it. On the 6a. A bus, for those of you who don't travel by public transport Busy bus. Folks standing in the aisle. I went up the back where I thought I'd seen a seat. Except this woman had settled her pet dog on it. Here's how it went: Me: Could I sit there please? Her: (moves dog to take up only 2/3rds of seat) Me; I'm sorry but I'd like to sit here please, could your dog maybe sit on the floor? Her: Why, does it bother you? Me: Well, yes. Is there a reason your dog can't sit on the floor there? Her: (shouts loudly) SHUT UP! Me; Eh? Her; SHUT UP! Me: Look, it's not unreasonable to ask that your dog sits on the floor, when people are standing! Her: What's wrong with my dog? Me: Nothing at all. Except it's inconsiderate that the dog's taking up a seat, don't you think? Her; SHUT UP, I'M JUST GETTING OFF ANYWAY. This from a reasonably well turned out woman in her 50s. Quite a nice wee doggie, perky wee thing whose owner clearly has *entitlement* issues. FFS though, I mean, what happened to just being mannerly? Don't know who I feel more sorry for: her or the dog.

I hope the little doggie had its coat on to protect it from the Glasgow weather.
You couldnt really expect a West End doggie to get down on the floor could you?
I hope the Lady had a refained Kelvinsaide accent coz you certainly must keep the hoi polloi off the 6A bus.
Gees the hide if some people! the 2 legged bitch not the four legged one
Sometimes you just wonder about people.

Hardly. Nota Dug had an effing seat, after all And while we're on it, the etiquette of public transport travel, ANOTHER THING! Folks that do that thing where they put their bags on the window seat then sit in the aisle seat. It's like they're CHALLENGING seatless passengers to say something. Vast majority don't, of course, and that's how they get away with it. Guess what. I do. Every single time Usually get a huffy response, like THEY'VE been inconvenienced or something. I got so pissed off once I asked the passenger if they'd bought a ticket for their effing shopping bags.

Far be it for me but Sydney Buses Regs 3 jumps seats at side for wheel chairs, must be given up for for them. First 2 seats for elderly, must be given up for an elderly person, of course no one admits to being elderly Children must give up seats for adults One charming young lady about 14 tried to give me her seat, she was encumbered by school bag, sports bag & violin case I told her to sit tight. People must not stand in front of yellow line at front (unless you are a adolescent school girl that fancies the driver)as it obstructs the driver's view Sitting on steps is verboten but everyone does it Number of standing 30 or until breathing becomes a problem which ever is the greater. Note different coloured seats for elderly and infirm

Note different coloured seats for elderly and infirm Yeah, we've got jump seats too, for wheelchairs and buggies, works well. And yeah, first two rows either side you are expected to reserve for elderly or folks that need a wee hand. Folks here are generally respectful of that. One day on the 4A a boy of 18 or so was taking up two of the *elderly* seats when some seniors got on at Hyndland. I was in the row behind and tapped him on the shoulder when it appeared he was too busy on his phone to actually notice. I just said, 'Mate, some of the folks getting on might welcome sitting there' He got up no bother and helped an elderly couple get settled. If I'm honest I find most young people are far more caring and respectful than some seniors. Respect cuts both ways, shirley?

Oh and by the way, I'll give up a seat to anyone who needs it more than me. But not someone's dog.

Rolo rote
I find that too. I was getting a bus a while ago and at the bus stop a little old lady was sitting in shelter . Just before bus arrived along came a crowd of rowdy school kids from local high school having a real fun playing touch footy with a girl's backpack really boisterous with both boys and girls having a great time . I thought Little old lady would be buffeted by this mob as bus arrived in the scramble to get on so I decided to find a local telephone box and change my suit. However when bus arrivedEVERY kid stopped and stood aside to let her on first one actually holding her arm. I was most impressed so was little old lady she thanked them most gracefully
Nice kids
