From Glasgow Live:
It's all so true. And the Connolly clip makes me laugh out loud.

Sydney's up there on my list of most beautiful cities, that's for sure Along with Milan, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Zurich, Munich, Santiago de Compostela, Vancouver, and Tallin. The greatest perk ever is being able to travel for work... My 60th present is a trip to Rome..

History and old architecture are some of the main things I miss from UK & Europe BTW Dee Why had 137mm (over 5") of rain yesterday. That is why I didnt mention weather Prague and other Eastern European capitals are fast becoming destinations for UK stag and hen parties, Oz. A phenomenon you really don't want to encounter. They are uber-cheap to visit, hence the attraction.. I've not been there as yet but 100% of those I know who have, before the stags and hens took over, loved the place. Same with Budapest. I know how lucky I am to travel with work and being based in Scotland, only two hours max from pretty much everywhere in Europe. You'll note I didn't mention many US cities I've visited, that's because like you, I adore history and architecture too. Which is also why the QVB in Sydney is one of my favourite buildings as are the Victorian terrace houses so prevalent in the suburbs.

Another 2 reasons to be in Glasgow today Our main road.. the latest in "Green" transport Local "Woolies" usually hard to find a parking possie The storms and floods are on the news here, Oz. Looks pretty bad, particularly at Collaroy. How utterly grim that people are losing their lives in some cases and others their (very expensive) homes, gardens and in one case, swimming pool. Coastal erosion's a big problem in parts of England too-- particularly the east and southern coasts. Holly, in Paris last week, was only two blocks from the park where a children's birthday party was struck by lightning, many kids seriously injured. I was in Rotterdam at the time, no storms there thankfully-- but she sent me a GIF of the thunder and rainstorm she got caught in. Only this weekend Northern Europe had even worse storms, the RockAmRing festival in Germany was cancelled two days in because of lightning strikes injuring many in the crowd. And yet here in Western Scotland we're seeing the best run of hot and settled weather I can remember in early June. Never underestimate the power of nature.

Glad the Young Lady was safe and sound. The houses that were damaged at Collaroy were always under threat. We lived in Beach Road in Collaroy for over 20 years but further south on the inland end of a rock promontory, Long Reef so our old house would be OK Since we moved to Sydney (almost 50 years) this is the third time this has happened, each time they lost a bit of garden. Some have run out of garden now. It was merely a nuisance to us though water caused the air-conditioner to conk out I phoned the company and the girl, most polite, said the best she could do was take my name and get someone to phone me back "perhaps today" as things there were pandemonium. I said I understood and wished her good luck. She said she needed it. So we hauled out the Dimplex we had in Bishopbriggs, still works well! and will have to be patient. Others are very much worse..
