Big debate about the situation on primetime R4's "Decision Time" programme last night, with the BBC's senior politics sort, Nick Robinson and various talking heads ..... and no SNP representation whatsoever. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0196rpp#synopsis" Today we examine how what could become the biggest constitutional crisis of our age will develop.
With Sir John Elvidge, who was permanent secretary to the Scottish government - Alex Salmond's top official in other words - until 2010, and has also previously worked in Whitehall. Duncan Hamilton, a former political advisor to the First Minister and a former member of the Scottish parliament. Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP, [he was fun, he was positively fizzing & boggling with indignation!!] Scottish Secretary in Margaret Thatcher's government and defence and foreign secretaries under John Major. Baroness Helen Liddle, who was Scottish secretary in Tony Blair's government and then high commissioner in Australia and professor James Mitchell, an expert on Scottish politics and on the workings of the SNP."

I would prefer not to pay more taxes, however I certainly would if it made the difference and allowed independence, I do not have a begging bowl asking whitehall for handouts and I gave 9 years of my young life to the uk's armed forces freely so I can say truthfully I am NOT anti English I am just PRO Scots and want our own people to govern us, not some southern bunch. One thing that continually amazes me is the way the English in particular suck up to Eire, they even give that foreign nation's people a vote in the UK yet they get all angryu when our independence is mentioned. The Irish had their independence through bloodshed on both sides, yet here we Scots are doing things correctly and they are trying everything to force us into a hasty referendum NOT to suit or be fair to us Scots, but to suit THEMSELVES.

Well said Sir! I am lucky ( the harder I w*rk the luckier I get, lol) in that I'd be happy to give a little more via tax in the knowledge that WE control how that money is spent towards a fairer Scottish society. Sure it's understandable that people might worry that they'll be taxed a wee bit more. But that burden will NOT fall on those with low incomes. That's not how we do things in Scotland. And yeah, say again Bormes, none of this is about being anti-English. Those dyed in the wool mental nats trolls of yore that go on about oppression/braveheart/freedom shite are an embarrassment to us all.
