Farewell then, Janey. An ever-sprightly battler, and fully paid up member of the awkward squad. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-16580383I liked her. She contacted me after one of my letters got published in the Herald, and we went out to lunch and set the world to rights. She donated tons of Norman's stuff to the Glasgow Cally library, and this was the foundation of its Centre for Political Song.

This upcoming concert might be of interest; www.celticconnections.com/whatson/event/118576-UCS-40th-Anniversary-Celebrations-with-Special-GuestsWhile shop steward Jimmy Reid may be best remembered for his “no hooliganism, no vandalism, no bevvying” admonition, another excerpt from his announcement of the work-in resounds still louder: “We refuse to accept that faceless men, or any group of men in Whitehall or anywhere else, can take decisions that devastate our livelihoods with impunity. They’re not on.” Oh, the irony.
