I hear that a local man mounted a campaign against tax evaders down Byres Road the other day ;D He had banners outside Barratt's the newsagents urging a boycott of huge conglomerates such as Starbucks, Tesco et al who take the piss out of us all by evading tax. I was told about this by my 83 year old mother who stopped and had a lengthy conversation with the man, agreeing with his views. She remonstrated with my daughter this afternoon re going to Starbucks to use the free wifi! Sure hope the 'mystery man' enjoyed talking to my wee ma as much as she did talking to him. Six degrees of separation, I think not.

She doesn't know your name but just mentioned the 'campaigning man' was someone she recognised from the time when the wean was tiny wee and she'd take her into the Gros Cafe when I was out grafting...and I put 2 and 2 together Fecking GOOD ON YOU, my friend. ;D That's good about Cafe GoGo's wifi as well. I'll tell the wean to tell all her mates too. The Uni library's so over capacity it's unbelievable. And so much of the coursework notes and playback lectures are now on the net. I'm an Atrium body, as you know. The global cafe chains won't get a penny of my hard-earned.

Did you know that the 3 billion quid that Osborne's clawing back via benefits it about 100th of the amount that global conglomerates such as Google, Amazon and Starbucks are withholding via not paying tax? Since WHEN was it acceptable for such companies to 'offer' such paltry tax payments rather than have them pay a stated percentage on their income, you know like ORDINARY people have to? Are we supposed to be GRATEFUL or what? There's plenty money to go around. The problem is that the pathologically greedy are keeping it all to themselves. If they threaten to leave the UKE via taxation issues then fucking well let them. Goodbye and good effing riddance.

I have always felt that if say Starbucks left the UK we have enough people of ability to run the very shops they leave, probably even better with better service and pay taxes!! The BIG thing, just like the planning in Thatcher's time with Gosling and the NCP car parks, the McDonald's, Burger King, Subway Sandwiches, Starbucks, Costas and TESCO, but to name a few, can have planning permission when ordinary wee mortals can not!! There is a very good chance the likes of Barretts a family newsagent in Byres Rd., for over five decades will close because of Tesco, in times like this, with 11 charity shops paying no rates and very little tax if any in most cases and the Multi nationals, it is wonderful we have any small businesses left. Speaking of rates, the Chip is rated at over 90,000 per year and Barratts is over 35,000 Add water rates, paying for your own rubbish to be uplifted and frankly what do the businesses get? Very little from GCC.

There is a very good chance the likes of Barretts a family newsagent in Byres Rd., for over five decades will close because of Tesco, That'll be; Over My Dead Body We're just not having it ;D Re Starf*cks, a young friend of mine worked in Byres Rd branch for a couple months before taking up his vocation with BA. Paid minimum wage, £5 an hour give or take a few pence. Got 30 minute lunch break in an 8 hour shift; not enough time to go out, clearly--- so Starf*cks were considerate enough to give employees 50% off in-house food and drink. Given the overpriced shite they peddle, I reckon even at half-price they make a substantial profit out of those who work for them on paltry wages. Don't know about you guys but I am getting angrier by the minute. In the name of F*CK let's get away from this hideous, execrable Tory government and those excuses for human beings they support.

Unfortunately, I see NO others worth listening to, particularly Balls or his precious wife Mrs Balls, known by her maiden name. Wonder why? I would like to see a coalition of different MP's and some leaders of industry get together for the sake of our country and to cut the Yaa boo politics that most people are disgusted by. We are probably in about the same state as we were when in WW2 and as such we should all pull together not be so Poles apart. I am totally in agreement that people working should have more money in their hand than generationally deliberately unemployed. By the same token ONE Multi national AVOIDS more tax in one year than the money paid to ALL the unemployed so there is work to be sorted by both sides. The unfortunate position we are in is due mainly to the lying fuckers bliar and broom who took over a huge surplus and squandered it to put us in the worst EVER position. They should hang their heads in shame and balls has certainly got balls as he presided in a position of power when this all happened. They had 13 fucking years with full power yet they allowed these Multi national fuckers to get away with it and while broon was fucking the small business man with VAT, TAX and SO MUCH needless paper work, the multi's were laughing all the way to their off shore hide holes. The bliar broon hatred of the middle income small business person is evident and their hatred of the Tories is so obvious with their immigration policy and the attack on the fox hunting. ( something, I have no support for) however they ignore the Muslims Jews etc., killing animals by cutting their thraoats, sometimes in back shops, a rather sordid way to behave. Looking back in time I think will show the Peace envoy for the Middle East when he was prime minister his terms will be as good as his job as peace envoy, fucking useless at both jobs.

Even wae rates at zero - how do they raise enough cash to pay lekky etc or is that discounted too There's a huge difference in charidee shops tae - at one end there are local charities struggling by - then at thr other end of the spectrum there's teh likes of Oxfam who are a corporate entity

" I am totally in agreement that people working should have more money in their hand than generationally deliberately unemployed. By the same token ONE Multi national AVOIDS more tax in one year than the money paid to ALL the unemployed so there is work to be sorted by both sides." And another thing, Bormes. Osborne, the multimillionaire heir to the Osborne and Little wallpaper business is trying to claw back £3 billion by restricting benefits like disability, family allowance etc, which are very often paid to people who are working. Benefits will rise by 1% while inflation will be at least double. £3 billion---a drop in the ocean compared to the tax NOT PAID by global businesses in this country. It really couldn't be MORE WRONG btw, if 'local man' lets me know about his next planned campaign day, I'd join him---and I think my wee ma might too

Why, how kind of you. Well, apparently it was such a success that the owner of Barratts has organised a properly printed one to be put up. The old fart you refer to also offered to put one at a local Coffee shop, however the owners who lease it were told by their landlord in no uncertain terms, they had better not. Maybe their landlord has shares in Starbucks, who of course are quite close neighbours to them. Look forward to catching up over Xmas, can you organise to meet with our other Musketeer as well?

Barratts is a WE institution! I get me and the wean's bus tickets there every month as well as papers and magazines, rather than from supermarkets. Young Bill is a mate of mine too.
So I'm well up for campaigning and also I have print facilities at w*rk so I'd be only too happy to run off poster copies (up to A3 size) free of charge, any time.
I'm off for two weeks over the Festive, after 21st Dec-- so yeah let's arrange to meet up ;D
