I was really saddened to see this, actually. Did he really need the money?

Is it not a good thing that Steven Hawking's seen on prime time tv? How many folks now know who he is and what he's achieved?
I think it's a genius move myself. ;D

Have to agree with Rolo, why hide people who have a physical problem as though they did not exist? I hated the way after the Falklands our injured lads who were not allowed off the same ships at the same time because of "moral" don't let the public see horrific injuries ( sub text should have been, It might affect numbers joining up.) I don't think it was done for money, maybe a wee bit of awareness??

Those who don't know who Hawking is, don't need to know. (& in fact it'd be better all round if they don't know)
I'm not talking about hiding him away! I'm talking about being scunnered that one of the greatest minds in the history of humanity has been suckered into doing ads for car insurance. Wtf??
Pink Floyd numbers, I can understand. Big Bang Theory episodes, I can understand. But car insurance?? That I can't understand.

It wasn't just the wounded B, the dead too were shipped in, in the dead of night, in a shipping container, lest anyone would see -although they did stick a union flag on it. Nowadays a bit of a volte face, where the dead are now subjected to a circus after being flown in from Afghanistan/Iraq

Shirley you don't believe this ad was produced without the active cooperation of Steven Hawking? A great mind, sure. But also a man with an appreciation of life (and culture) that goes beyond his genius talent for science. And I quote: Professor Hawking, now director of research at Cambridge's Centre for Theoretical Cosmology, said: ‘I confess I am a fan of the Gocompare.com adverts, but I am also an opera fan, so I was delighted to be given the opportunity to help save the nation and silence Gio. ‘I hope the public find it as funny as I did.’
