So tonight, after a bit of a day off given silly hours lately, me and Mr R fired down to Byres, late doors, to get a bit of shopping in. Only to chance across a bit of a stushie happening in Waitrose (yes! douce WE Waitrose!) There's odd squeaks and shouts coming from somewhere, people are looking around going 'WTF'? Next thing, three beat police attend and surround an Elderly Man who seems to be just a tad unhappy about something..... EM is lying down on the floor at the checkout, giving it protest. When they helped him to his feet, gently I may say, I recognise the gent to be a famed novelist, artist and sculptor of this parish. The lovely staff at Waitrose give it complete concern, as did us punters. Turns out the gent, just a little the worse for wear after a Sunday lunch perhaps, was attempting to buy a bottle of spirits and the young cashier refused (rightly) to sell him it. Cue tantrum! (bless...) No charges, I understand, although the cashier got a bit of grief (not fair) and the polis took care to deliver the gent safely home in their patrol car. He'll be back for paracetamol the morra a.m, I bet. He's a soul. And will no doubt be mortified at any offence caused to the young cashier.

I went to a political meeting once, in the West End at somebody's house. The OH was ever ever so protective of the EM, to the point of holding his hand throughout. Not quite sure who the needy wan is there.............. ;D
