So a polis strolled up the path yesterday, striking fear into ma breastie that Mr R had an unpaid parking ticket...not for the first time, cos he challenges 'em all the time. (Uses loading bays a lot when delivering sound gear, etc...) Usually wins an' all! Anyways, no. We weren't collared and led off to Maryhill nick It was about a theft in the area. Of lead, from a neighbour's roof. A few doors down there's scaff up for stonework repairs. Hunners of guys monkeying up and down the ladders daily.I thought they were supposed to remove the lower ladders at the end of the dayshift? Clearly not in this case. Either that or these were Acrobat Robbers... Are there really folks that cruise about looking for houses with scaff up? When did the dastardly crime take place, in the dead of night, when it's light as day here in Scotland? How is it POSSIBLE to remove a ton of lead and put it in a getaway vehicle without anyone noticing? Poor neebs, they've been robbed twice over, once by the Lead Gang and again by the stonework contractors!

Doon in Greenock, a closed down RC chapel had its whole roof stripped of lead and no one, it was on the main road next to the ford garage and the thieves stripped it in broad daylight.
They just need an incredible brass-neck to brazen it out
Jeezo they knicked tonnes and tonnes of railway track in Greenock not that long ago ( would have need artics and a crane) and no one noticed

They're now ubiquitous, you can get em for a quid just about everywhere, including Ikea! A coupla guys lifted a plasma screen from our building, bold as brass, wearing 'work' gear. Mind you, I 'lifted' a handy umbrella from the Lost Property box at w*rk earlier, in a downpour! But at least I'm returning it tomorrow lest the owner comes looking for it. (unlikely, it's was well broken!). ;D

Wearing a suit with a hard hat and carrying a clipboard you can get in most places. Only once have I been questioned by the cops (prob because I had no hard hat) and that was in a vacant house. Someone had phoned them. I had been there about 10 minutes when the cops arrived. Pretty quick I thought.
