First visit earlier tonight. Didn't expect too much of our new 12000 capacity venue to be honest: thought might be a big cold barn of a place with shit sound, crap sightlines, substandard, expensive food/drink and less than great customer treatment... But wow. Just...WOW. Exceeded my expectations to the power of 100. And some.. It is jaw-droppingly GIGTASTIC on every count. Does us proud So tonight it was Simple Minds with Ultravox supporting. The latter didn't set the heather on fire, but then they never did, frankly.. Minds were actually brilliant. Consummate professionals, great musicians, timeless songs. Mr R gutted he couldn't make it; was on Billy Bragg (yawn) at the GRCH earlier, but he'll be at front of house controls come December 20th for Deacon Blue. That's gonna be one special night, indeedy. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-24345954

News today that the live production of Still Game added another few shows at the Hydro next September, making 21 shows in a row.
X 12,000 I reckon that means a quarter of a million Scots'll be turning out.
Fantastic news for the cast, the backstage workers, promoters, support industries and of course all the bars, restaurants and hotels in the area. ;D
SO much to look forward to in Scotland in 2014.
