Here's a long shot, in these non solid-state days... Does anyone have any suggestions for good hifi speakers? My old, small coffin-sized Goodmans are pretty much goofed. The woofers were replaced a few years ago with non-Goodmans, and they're just.... nae good. What's everybody got? (here's where, for some reason, I'd love to hear from JJ, no idea why...)

Mr Rolo's in the audio engineering business... ;D Drop me a PM with your hifi components Westie, and I'll ask him to recommend something that'd suit. He gets stuff at trade discount if that's of interest at all? ;D
Bit like the cobbler's family wi no shoes, we've not replaced our home speakers for over 20 years---they're vintage Mission. Then again they ain't broke, so why fix 'em?
For the mac, I have the wee plug-in JBL OnTour system, very powerful and I'd highly recommend it for stereo sound for computers for only £40 or so. And Sony Pro headphones for when it's late at night...cost me £130 quid but worth every single penny.

;D Acht, I knew youse would have great stuff! Have ye anything languishing up the loft...?? I don't listen to music on the puter, the idea is anathema to me... but I do love me Sennheiser cans for the wireless. Once I've worked out / have remembered what me spec is, I'll drop you a line. (It's all old and tiny lightbulbs and green displays and big clicky knobs and teak surrounds and peculiar speaker inputs.... and the word "quadrophonic" or some such features on the inputs at the back but, I know that much).

Sounds like grist to the mill for Mr Rolo. He's been building that stuff since he was 7. And there's plenty big clicky knobs in oor hoose I'll have you know! The auld yins are very often the best yins Oh yes.

Lordy, Iplayer and Utube clips must sound shite just on the puter's speakers, shirley? No wunner you dislike the net for that kinda thing if you're not using the right stuff to listen in wi! ;D

I do NOT have anything Amstrad! mr "cannae tell the difference between a crack in the glass and a paint splash" genius....
Vintage Rotel amp and Goodmans speakers. Rescued from a hoose in Greenock where several heroes of mine used to hang out.
I'd love to see what would emerge from cloning from the DNA in the oose of ages in the nooks and crannies at the back of that amp...
