Sure, we have to accept the verdict of the jury, that's the price of democracy after all. In my view, she's managed to 'get away with it', whether due to clever legal briefs or playing the gender card in court. If she truly DID NOT KNOW about the phone-hacking going on under HER WATCH (even through pillow-talk via her affair with Andy Coulson, now a convicted criminal) then at the very least she's derelict in her duty as editor of a newspaper and is clearly shit at her job. So for that reason alone, she's let herself and other professional women down. I do suspect there's layers more to come out re her/Murdoch/Tony Blair in the fullness of time......but for now, yes, Bormes, she's 'not guilty'... Thats conjecture... The jury reached its verdict based on evidence. Like it or not she is not guilty so why continue to besmirch her

But anyone even reasonably well-informed as to the doings of Brooks, Bliar, Murdoch and their cabal will agree there's a whole can of worms that hasn't been opened..... thus far. Tell me this, Oz, would YOU place your trust in a CEO that didn't have a scooby what was going on in your company (at best) and who turned a blind eye to criminal behaviour (at worst) ?

No not pedantic just stating facts she was found not guilty on evidence. End of story she is not guilty.
And no I wouldnt trust any of them further than I could throw them through a brick wall but that is not the question.
I also think the "left", for the lack of a better definition, are deliberately exaggerating the whole thing to make political mileage. I would trust their take as much as I would trust the others.
on thinking perhaps less

What 'thing' are 'the left' exaggerating, Oz? Blowing the whole thing up about Murdoch and forgetting the "left" papers that did exactly the same thing

What 'thing' are 'the left' exaggerating, Oz? Blowing the whole thing up about Murdoch and forgetting the "left" papers that did exactly the same thing Can you list the "left "papers in the UK and why they are as you surmise "left" ? Now if you can push the boat out why not provide a list of "right" ones too and why they are so? Should be eezy-peezy for you, what?

What 'thing' are 'the left' exaggerating, Oz? Blowing the whole thing up about Murdoch and forgetting the "left" papers that did exactly the same thing Ah you mean like the Daily Telegraph - arch critics of the Murdochs and their newspapers - so left wing they are known as the Daily Torygraph or maybe what about the Daily Mail, again full of rampant criticism of the Murdochs - again so left wing they are known as the Daily Heil and are famous ( infamous) for supporting the British Union of Fascists, Hitler ( before WW2) and to this day supporting loony nutter right wing groups and causes. Jeezo if that's your idea of "left" papers - your views of what are "right" papers will be a delight to behold

Oz, What an excellent post, Accurate too. My wee read is Private Eye when I can be bothered with any print medium!! I think you have put an excellent view on them and in fairness I too feel there is this moral high ground from the left as though anyone who thinks there are too many muslims in the UK are Nazis!! I am NOT a tory and I detest blair and broon as the two biggest hypocrites and warmongers since Earl Haig and his Cabal. Considering you live upside down Oz in a place with so many dangerous critters and who eat food that is burnt outside and raw inside (BBQ ) You have managed a s a Johnny Foreigner to be almost like a true English Gentleman!!!! Lol!! Naturally I am kidding!!!! Oh to be more like Australia!! Maybe with a Scotland running herself we can move towards a fairer society, I hope so!!

What 'thing' are 'the left' exaggerating, Oz? Blowing the whole thing up about Murdoch and forgetting the "left" papers that did exactly the same thing On the contrary I don't believe much of the press coverage (right or left-leaning) has been to do with Murdoch, Oz. It's been about the FACT that a certain cabal working in press media has considered itself above the law. They have routinely invaded peoples' right to privacy by hacking into their phones. Some were *celebrities*, some just *ordinary people*. This is unacceptable in our country. It's RIGHT that it's reported across all media, and it's RIGHT that it went to trial. Andy Coulson is now a convicted criminal, which doesn't come as a surprise to most of us. That some of us opine that his boss and lover, Rebekah Brooks, MUST have had an inkling (at least) of what was going on on her watch, is reasonable. My own view is that she's *got away with it* this time. But there's more, much more, to come out, of that I'm certain.

from another forum Delighted? Where did you copy n paste that from? Guardian, very left wing - ha ha ha, maybe thirty plus years ago maybe.........same with the daily mail being a "housewives" paper, it hasn't been that since at least the 1950s Come to think of it, your whole copy n paste "item" sounds as if it was written by either miss jean brodie or someone from the BBC circa 1950 who was typing it up whilst in their black-tie getup

The Guardian is certainly left politically However I would not expect someone with your political views to agree. This conclusion is based on you avatar & signature

I will be interested to see if they are prosecuted too

Phone hacking is a crime no matter WHO's responsible, don't you think, OZ? Pls share your knowledge of 'other papers' or individuals working for same, who've been similarly charged? Us 'lefties' desperately want to know....
