I read that on Twitter, Bormes, and hoped it could not be true.
I suspect it is, though, and if questions are asked, it will all be the fault of some "junior member of staff" and "it won't happen again", etc. Huh. Well, no, cos it won't be referendum year again.
The BBC really is a disgrace.

I know some older people who were there and friends of mine do catering there and it seems the young ones and mainly female were targeted as they handed over meekly where some of the older males were refusing but word got around and a lot of kids hid their flags and when the cameras were around they reappeared !! Again staff were told to confiscate them but I am told they did not do the job very well and sort of told the kids not to wave the flags in the face of the cameras but some security refused to confiscate them.

Just ANOTHER wee example of how ENGLAND and the Westminster politicians patronise us up here. Proof the BBC are just an arm of the Westminster Government. Not at all independent. Only way to beat their system is a YES vote!!

Yes true BBC who have film rights demanded security take Saltires from kids at T as they did NOT want to show flags on TV Rolo did you see this? Bormes, as far as I know, no Saltires, or any other flags, were removed from punters at T on political grounds. But if you or anyone else has evidence that this happened, I'd like to know about it in detail, please. Sometimes people are asked to put down their flags because if they're very large they interfere with the crowd's ability to see the stage--- so very possibly some confusion here. We don't allow umbrellas on the site for the very same reason, it's not fair to paying punters that their view is obscured... On Friday night, Simon Neil from headliners Biffy Clyro unravelled a Yes flag as they finished their set on Mainstage. It was covered in the BBC TV footage. Put simply, I am highly critical of the BBC's coverage of the referendum and I do believe there is some element of bias there, but I didn't see anything at T that I'd consider dodgy in that regard. Hope that helps?

Been told by security worker they were to remove large saltires as they came in. Word spread and the young ones hid them on entry. In the evening stewards asked the punters as you rightly say, to keep them down, initially they were taken by some of the stewards who were loudly explaining it was NOT BECAUSE IT WAS A SALTIRE!! Later, within an hour I am told some of the same security refused to confiscate and went over asking the kids to keep them down and away from the cameras. As you rightly say, that WAS the excuse used, however even my friend in the catering said a lot of kids complained security at the gate were confiscating large flags. Probably some exageration from both sides, however my opinion is NOT ONE should have been confiscated. Put someone out for bad behaviour but NOT for having their NATIONAL FLAG!!

Would you care to name which security source told you this, Bormes? PM me if you'd rather. We have several firms onsite in different areas of the arena and campsite so I'm dead interested to hear who reported this to you. Everyone entering the site is subject to security checks. There's good reason for that.

... We don't allow umbrellas on the site ... Excellent! They are the work of the devil. AND they have nasty wee prongs. Very selfish things, umbrellas. Well, umbrella wielders, really.
