All Governments are the same whether left or right they all go for the easy target. I honestly wonder about the IQ of some polliea worldwide not just UK or OZ maybe there should be an IQ test. Hell migrants need a test why not pollies!!!
Our senate has a proportion of "time servers" who are there as a reward for services to their party or union. One dick head woman thought the drama series "Sea Patrol" was a docu and brought up bits of it in a Senate Enquiry about "Stopping the Boats" (illegals by boat) much to the bewilderment of the Naval Officer she was questioning who had no knowledge of the incidents she was referring to. One of the committee put her right....... That is a politician God help us all.
She was not from a major party

One of the committee put her right....... That is a politician God help us all. She was not from a major party I think that's very true, Oz. I believe the calibre of Scottish politicians is pretty OK overall, with some complete stars across all parties (even if I don't always agree with their policies...) What we seem to be seeing in Western democracies increasingly though is ambitious folks whose ability doesn't begin to match their self-belief. I also think it's often the case that those best placed to serve in government don't step up to do so--- and I totally get the reasons why they don't. The House of Lords at Westminster for example--peers are appointed not always by merit, more often now for being party donors. Or indeed Commons MP's who've been voted out of their seats at elections--that pisses me off particularly. They've been rejected at the polls but take higher office at allowances of £300 per day for just pitching up. It's apparently commonplace that many log in for the expenses early in the day then bugger off and don't take part in debates or decisions. And the current Brexit campaign is frankly bringing out the very worst in some so-called politicians. There's a great deal of unease in Scotland that we may be dragged out of Europe even in the likely event that Scotland votes by majority to remain. That's a whole other scenario.
