After a long walk with the dog, or a dose of Delhi belly, or winter vomiting (which I definitely had a wee dose of, back in October) - I have frequently been immensely, pathetically grateful to whoever it was (Mr Crapper or whoever) that invented the flushing toilet.
Also, as a female, and as a fan of Scottish writing that frequently deals with remote locations, remote folk and absolutely nae mod cons, I am also immensely grateful to whoever put the plumbing together that gives me hot water on tap.
Duvets. 15 tog in the winter, 3 in the summer.
Hoovers. I like hoovering - very therapeutic.
What's your favourite brilliant invention, that's now so mundane that we don't even think about it?

 O dear. A tad unnecessary, what? Does she have a troop of labradors and a wheen of baling wire & sacks of agricultural feed to haul around....? Or is it 'just' for around town and the run to Tesco....?

Or is it 'just' for around town and the run to Tesco....? yoo know fine well we huv 2 labradugs................. we want tae travel in complete safety, wae a good height affra grun tae get good visibilty and complete comfort n reliability all aboot ra place - nae fekker cuts yoo up either. Wae ra miloeage we dae a motor like that is a necesshity, especially wae r aweathur we seem tae get nooadays, whut wae all that global warmin if we wanted tae wheel aroon ra rest ov that stuff ah would huv got a landrover defender. |

I'm also pointing out it was sufficient for our needs, as were all the millions of non-behemoths that everyone drove up and down the UK in previous generations. Is there any evidence that the explosion of vastly oversized and inappropriate motors on the road in recent years has resulted in fewer accidents and safer roads? I rather think the opposite is the case. |
