The first once or twice its a bit embarrassing but after that the Scottish genes show through and you revel in getting something out the guvmint. Can become a bit embarrassing getting older. Had a shoe lace that had become undone in the supermarket. I hadnt noticed but a young lady, a shelf loader with bright orange hair, piercings and tats told me and it was undone and would I like her to tie it for me. I thought it was most kind of her I thanked her profusely but said it was ok then Hurriedly went back to car and I cant look that old and decrepit Aw sh*t I suppose I do to a teenager

Did you nominate her for Employee of the Month, a wee bonus? Anyways, you look nothing LIKE your age, Oz. Neither does that Bormes... Re getting something out of the government: well yeah, look, if I was 60 right now, I'd use both the bus pass AND the winter heating allowance. Because Scotland pays in more in tax than it receives back from Westminster. My taxes subsidise those living in the South East of England yet I pay more for food and energy than they do. However come 2014, post the YES vote, I wouldn't claim either of them. It's likely I'll be working another 10 years--bit of a thought to be honest---but I'd happily contribute back the cost of my bus (£500 a year) and my winter heating (£200 a year) because we'll be spending Scots' taxes on the priorities WE set. Education, health and taking best care of the vulnerable. What the Scots are all about.

yeah you wouldnt believe I will be 60 soon ;D ;D ;D
The other one that got me. On a bus coming back from court, I was on the jury of a child molestation case and was feeling pretty bloody. A young lady, looked 15 or 16 to me so was prob 14, in school uniform complete with back pack, sports bag and violin case struggled to give me her seat. She couldnt have stood with all that gear so I told her to sit tight and thanked her very much for her kind thought. It got rid of my black feelings and cheered me up.
Roll on 14th September 2013 Thats our Federal election get rid of Juliar and her clowns.

Roll on 14th September 2013 Thats our Federal election get rid of Juliar and her clowns. Plenty decent kids about, Oz. When I was heavily pregnant with the wean, it was invariably young ones who offered me a seat on the tube or bus while entitled men stayed where they were, usually taking up two seats by 'spreading em wide' if you get my drift... On our buses in Glasgow the front two rows are designated for those who really need a seat, and rarely, if ever, have I seen kids lolling about on them. This very morning, wean's boyf set the alarm for 8am, despite a hellish long week of study and work, and fired off to volunteer packing customers' bags all day in a supermarket, for charity. Contrast these examples with the knuckle-draggers who play no part in anything, achieve nothing, contribute nothing and actively make the world a worse place: such as those two on the 57 bus. We can't all be noble citizens, sure, but see those amoeba? Get them off our streets. They know right from wrong, despite modern 'mores'...

WE had a case the other day a woman had a black out and her car veered off the road into a pond and started to sink 4 kids from TAFE (tech) on a bus saw it yelled on the driver to stop, 2 kids jumped out the emergency exit the other 2 out the door. First kid dived in car was still half above water couldnt open door so smashed window got womans seat belt undone and dragged her out 2 kids dragged her ashore she was semi conscious and was saying something about her kids. These young guys dived back into pond 3m deep and as the car had sunk dived down and searched it. No kids it transpired she had just dropped them off.
Saw pics of the rescuers they were just ordinary kids. These guys restored my faith in kids

My faith in kids never needs restoring. ;D It's the adults I worry about. Entitled ones, the ones who know their rights but haven't a fucking scooby about their responsibilities. For the avoidance of doubt, the feckless and self-centred are found in all walks of life. The ones that believe they're owed a living. Oooh, ranting now, sorry...just fed up with ignorant attitudes and the worship of money at all costs......at very BIG cost to us all.

Dont know the difference between "rights" and "privileges" Had one idiot on talk back radio saying it was "His right under the 2nd Amendment to bear arms" The stupid f****r didnt know that was US not Oz. It does your heart good to read about these young kids amongst all the whinging about being hard done by by the guvmint and how the guvmint should do more for them, the whingers, as well as lowering the taxes and putting up pensions to cover increased costs of booze and petrol. Gees the whingers and do gooders wouldnt even work in an iron lung. Half are on the dole the other half are busy slurpng lattes and Chardonnay in inner city cafes and are employed( I cannot say work) either in Academia or the Public Service, never had a real job in their lives! Wish they would just leave us to get on with it without stupid needless interference on things they know nothing about. PS dont believe our employment figures they have been massaged to make this bunch of clowns we call "the government" look good (an impossible task) roll on 14th September Good rant eh?

What I don't understand is why you speak so disparagingly about people who work in academia and for the public services. Perhaps you could explain, along with what you consider to be 'real' jobs.
Or are you one of those people who just can't see that there are all sorts of jobs that need to be done to ensure society functions?
