Party politics aside, Julia's speech the other day was so on it. Whether you're talking extremist muslims or so called civilised societies, sexism's never too far from the agenda. Seems to me too many men simply cannot handle the notion of power-sharing, whether it be in parliaments, the workplace or the home. It's only ever a matter of degree. I want better for our girls and for young men inured into such views by patriarchal societies. We all bring something to the table, don't we? We could achieve way more with a bit of fecking teamwork Men, check your egos in at the door: women, just be yourselves, don't feel the need to assume masculine qualities. Let's just get ON with what needs to be done! Too much divide and conquer going on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihd7ofrwQX0

You mean Juliar Gillard
Yeah it was a good speech but like everything she does was completely wrong and a tad economical with the truth.
Everything she and her party have done since being in power have been abysmal failures and she was desperately trying to shift public attention away from Border Protection, Falling Investment Budget Blowouts, Rising Unemploymengt etc etc etc and there are lots more. on to a head line grabbing venomous attack on the leader of the opposition Tony Abbot. She had no replies to his serious questions on the state of the nation so hence the vitriolic attack to divert attention
This Labour Government is the most incompetent government we have ever had even worse than Whitlam
It was carefully circulated overseas to certain media outlets to enhance her standing. She wants Oz to get a seat on the Security Council at UN
It failed miserably here Tony Abbot merely wheeled out his sister, wife and three daughters. He also pointed out that the Deputy Leader of the Opposition is Julie Bishop ( The blonde lady in white seen at the very beginning of the clip) and his chief of staff Peta something were both chosen by him. It made nonsense of her speech.
The public saw through it. Opinion Polls are still fairly steady at Lib/Nats 54% Lab 46% The last polls been taken after her speech
Roll on the next election!!!

Which part of 'party politics aside' did you not get, Oz? I read the first para of the link you posted and then realised the hack concerned had a serious problem himself; According to the ultra politically correct, Prime Minister Julia Gillard delivered the speech of her career last week, shrilly attacking Opposition Leader Tony Abbott and branding him as ``sexist’’ and a ``misogynist’’. You STILL don't see it? AND "Tony Abbot merely wheeled out his sister, wife and three daughters. He also pointed out that the Deputy Leader of the Opposition is Julie Bishop ( The blonde lady in white seen at the very beginning of the clip) and his chief of staff Peta something were both chosen by him. It made nonsense of her speech." Oh. So it did. Wheeling out any female within groping distance to support his case. Yeah. Right.

Gees I give up............ wimmmmin
It (her rant) was an attack upon a man who is anything but a Misogynist made just after her defending a real misogynist... Peter Slipper a man she and her handbag Mafia defended vigorously against a vote of no-confidence. It was so hypocritical.
What she is doing is playing the sexism card to hide her complete lack of competence which has nothing to do with her gender.
BTW The term "Hand bag mafia" was coined by a lady, Julie Bishop

Gees I give up............ wimmmmin It (her rant) was an attack upon a man who is anything but a Misogynist Really? Let's hear from Tony Abbott, shall we? ‘The problem with the Australian practice of abortion is that an objectively grave matter has been reduced to a question of the mother’s convenience.’ and ‘I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons’ and ‘What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they do the ironing is that if they get it done commercially it’s going to go up in price and their own power bills when they switch the iron on are going to go up, every year…’ Yeah, anything but a misogynist Come ON, Oz, the guy comes across like a twat of the first order. He's not fundamentally different to mad mullahs who insist on clothing their women in burkas and denying them education. It's only a matter of degree.

Yes he said most of that at age 19 when at Uni, someone has done a lot of digging.
BTW he was a Rhodes Scholar and an economist
Juliar at the same time said "housewives are basically prostitutes"
Personally I would prefer to see Julie Bishop or Barnaby Joyce as next PM rather than Abbot but even Kermit the Frog would be an improvement on Juliar

Agree with rolo on her first post, we pay lip service to women's equality, bliar who in opposition was always shouting about it, then when in power for 13 years did almost nothing. I do however think Oz is quite correct about the politics in Australia and the particular people described, I too saw that the "quotes" were very old regarding Abbot, I do think Juliar is a typical appartchik with no substance.

Woman and Man: Chemical Analysis Element: WomanSymbol: Wo Discoverer :Adam
Quantitative analysis: Accepted at 36-28-36, though isotopes ranging from 25-10-20 through 60-55-60 have been identified. Occurrence: Found wherever man is, but seldom in the highly reactive, energetic single state. Surplus quantities in all urban areas. Physical properties: Undergoes spontaneous dehydrolysis (weeps) at absolutely nothing and freezes at a moments notice. Totally unpredicatble. Melts when properly treated, very bitter if not well used. Found in many states ranging from virgin metal to common ore. Non-magnetic, but attracted coins and sports cars. In its natural state the specimen varies considerably, but is often changed artificially so well that the change is indiscernable except to the experienced eye. Chemical properties: Has great affinity for Au, Ag, and C (especially in the crystalline form). May give violent reaction if left alone. Will absorb great amounts of food matter. Highly desired reaction is initiated with various reagents such as C(2)-H(5)-OH and sexy aftershave. An essential catalyst is often required (must say that you love her at least 5 times daily). Reaction accelerates out of control when in dark and all reaction conditions are suitable. Extermely difficult to react if in the highly stable pure form. Yields to pressure applied to correct points. The reaction is highly exothermic. Storage: The best results are obtained between the ages of 18 and 25 years. Uses: Highly ornamental. Used as a tonic for low spirits. Used on cold nights as a heating agent (if properly prepared). Tests: Specimen turns rosey tint if discovered in raw natural state. Turns green if placed beside a better specimen. Caution: Most powerful reducing agent known to man (income and ego). Highly explosive in inexperienced hands. Specimen must be used with great care if experiments are to succeed. It is illegal to posess more tha one permanent specimen, although a certain amount of exchange is permitted.
Element: ManSymbol: Ah (short for a**h***, a common French root used to identify the element) Discoverer: Eve
Quantitative Analysis: Accepted at 7 inches, wavy brown hair, 182cm in length, though some isotopes can be as short as 4 inches yet weigh 200+ Kg. Occurrence: Found following dual element Wo, often in high concentration near a perfect Wo specimen. (Experimental evidence: any beach on any coast) Physical properties: Obnoxious when mixed with C*H*-OH (any alcohol) Tends to fall into very low energy state directly after reaction with Wo (Snore ... zzzzz) Gains considerable mass as specimen ages, loses reactive nature. Rarely found in pure form after 14th year. Often damaged as a direct result of unlucky reaction with polluted form of the Wo commom ore. Chemical properties: All forms desire reaction with Wo, even when no further reaction is possible. May react with several Wo isotopes in short period under extremely favorable conditions. Usually willing to react with what ever is available. Reaction Rates range from aborted/non- existant to Pre-interaction effects (which tend to turn the specimen bright red and send it to react with Sa, the sex analyist) Reaction styles vary from extremely slow, calm and wet to violent/bloody. Storage: Best results apparently near 18 for high reaction rate, 25-35 for favorable reaction style. Uses: Heavy boxes, top shelves, long walks late at night, free dinners for Wo... Tests: Pure specimen will rarely reveal purity, while reacted specimens broadcast information on many wavelengths. Caution: Tends to react extremely violently when other Man interferes with reaction to a particular Wo specimen. Otherwise very maleable under correct conditions. An alternative version of the "Woman" elemental description is given below:

I think Julia Gillard was right to speak out. The speech went viral because it struck a chord in so many women all over the world. Deny that experience at your peril! I'm not stupid enough to believe we'll change the mindset of adult men who're so stunted that they put women (any women) down just to make themselves feel superior. But my point is, and always will be, working together and using our very different skills and talents to best advantage, we'd achieve SO much more. It's that kind of equality we should be seeking, not women acting laddishly, as if getting pissed out their skulls, falling over in the street and shagging everything that moves is ANYTHING to do with the principles of feminism. and . I get more upset by the day that women are increasingly judged by their appearance than their achievements. Hardly any wonder good women don't go into politics. It's everyone's loss.

Generally I agree with that sentiment.
Gillard was playing the feminine victim card and on a totally in appropriate man. She always does when things go against her. She is desperate to try and gain support by any means possible and whoever advised her got it wrong yet again. It was so inappropriate as she and her hand bag mafia had just supported a real misogynist, in a vote of no confidence read about Peter Slipper.
I think from my travels round the world women are treated much more equally here than in many countries including UK though they still have a bit to go.

I think it is the RC's that say give me a child until 7 and we'll have them for life. I wish more good women were running our country, the men so far have fucked up pretty badly with the bliar broon fiasco likely to be about the worst in recent history.
