Was it Jame Coburn that said "A generation ago actores were run out of town on a rail now people hang on every word" Just because someone can sing and/or act it doesnt mean they arent an airhead, We have a famous actress who believes absolutely in Global Warming and rising sea levels yet she has just bought a $2mil flat on Sydney Harbour fore shore for her kids ... nuff said

And conversely, just because someone can sing and/or act doesn't MAKE them an airhead James Coburn was wrong: we don't all hang on creative types' every word. But their opinions are sought because 'celebrity' endorsement can carry help a campaign just via the publicity alone. I doubt people change their basic views because of some actor but feel comforted, I suppose, because someone 'famous' voices their own personal view. And the opposite, Charlton Harlton and Clint Eastwood lobbying for the NRA would NEVER change my mind on gun ownership. Which reminds me, here's John Barrowman now, in yesterday's video for the NO campaign. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sArFksxhV-0&feature=youtu.be<no comment... >

Some are saying JB's the YES campaign's secret weapon, Nota. He's just an ignorant erse, promoted far beyond his ken. He's going to end up as the new Larry grayson, the acceptable gay chap that yer grannie can like, Paul o'grady for the almost sentient

If one is raised in an armed society like, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the good ol US then one has a very different outlook on firearms, they can be tools, sports or even used to put food on your table. We in our Nanny state of the UK do not and should not rush to judgement on these other countries who do allow personal ownership of firearms, they are NOT bad or mad as our media would have you believe, they are different. They are also in many cases freer of many of our restricting laws and not just on firearm control. I say again, education and responsibility are the key things and if done correctly there is no harm in sport shooting in my opinion.

I have often wondered how Obama's run for the presidency would have turned out if Oprah had supported Hilary and not him. It is scarey and amazing how much influence some celebrities can have.

Yeah its a worry Sean Connery still active for "YES" vote... just wondering saying Billy Connolly is against it.

Yes Connolly who is a rampant supporter of Eire and the "cause" brining the North into Eire despite the majority wishing to stay in the UK, he has the fucking brass neck to say Scotland should stay in the Uk, the fucking wife beating prick.

Just another talking head with no real knowledge... He lives in US I believe and has for about 30 years. Yes, the family emigrated to the US when JB was a teenager I think? As a performer in musical theatre and as an actor in such as Torchwood, I rate him. But yes, no real knowledge of the issues, I agree, and it just shows how desperate the No Campaign is to recruit him-- with such godAWFUL script-writing an'all! Peony, you reckon Obama would've struggled without the Oprah support? Also is it too late for Hillary now, in your opinion? Oz, yeah Connery's still a supporter of Yes but isn't playing a major part media-wise. Which is wise, I think personally.

Oh there was a definite swing in Obama's favor when Oprah endorsed him. There are thousands of women who will do, buy, eat, or like whatever she says is the good thing of the moment.
I'm not sure if Hilary will run or not. Over here she is treated like the de facto Democrat candidate. I'm a bit torn. She is getting a bit long in the tooth AND she has that whole Benghazi thing looming over her. If she runs, I'm her girl. I have a lot of respect for her.
