That is one elegant advert for a really rather lovely vehicular affair allthegethir. Lovely to hear the dulcet Scottish tones of clever artistic Enchineer Ian Callum, as well. For the life of me I do not understand why we're all still stuck burning fossil fuels as wastefully as we do. Why on earth haven't we had electric cars that charge off their own moving wheels before now?? It's a total no brainer. Yet still, we're hauling ourselves about in tons and tons of wasteful gas guzzlers; most of them built to seat at least 5, with usually one person in them. Fighting like buggery, ruining lives and laying waste to entire countries and societies, over every drop of oil we can find. It's a guy thing; i.e. madness. ;D

Great idea, I wonder if it becomes really viable and more efficient, will the oil giants allow it out there? Or could they manage to stop production of anything they see as a preference to their product? The same company make Land Rovers too now (HH,hehehe) and I am about to sell mine and another admission is I compared the new Iveco to the equivalent Land Rover 110 and I have to admit the Iveco came out much better all round. I wonder if OZ knows any data on the Iveco's from down his way as they do put them thro' a good test.

Iveco doesnt sell 4x4s here. The nearset we have to Landrover 110 Defender is the Toyota Troopie or Ute (pick up truck) other serious 4 x 4 utes are Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux or Mitsibushi and a few pretend 4 x4s like Subaru Forester The most popular serious 4 x 4s are The Toyota Landcruiser & Pradaos and the Nissan Patrols ( I have a half share in one) Poor old Landie has lost its popularity on price, reliability and range. Our Nissan has done over 200,000 km with no serious problems. We have 135litres of fuel while poor landie has 70 litres I think. The landie is still the best mud crawler though our Patrol aint bad Well mostly Actually that aint mine!! mine is about to tow mate out

I remain very upset and disaspointed that these did not become the industry standard. I was lied to as a child.

Explain exactly what you mean before I explain the laws of thermodynamics.
In any case, electric motors at the wheels driven by an engine of some sort ain't exactly new - 'diesel-electric' perhaps. As always, the devil will be in the detail.

Thanks Oz, I have to admit to having recently bought a 4x4 VW California, first time I have not had a L/Rover since my wife and I did an overland trip to India in the 70'S, previous I had lots of experience in the military with L/R's rigging them for parachuting them driving Pinkies in the desert etc, they were great workhorses. I have heard that the US Rangers were so impressed in Iraq with our Pinkies, they immediately ordered some. Since then I have heard your SAS have got 6x6x and 4x4 Perenties and they have a very good name.

Oz I'm pretty sure that is your Regiment lads using Perenties. The 6x6 versions, as I said they have a very good name.
