Wean's been in London this week. She'd not been before and tackled it all on her own. I'd planned to go in support but work commitments were too heavy So she flew down Weds (courtesy staff ticket from her friend, long haul BA steward), found her way to WE hotel, stayed overnight on her tod, found way to her appointment the next day and negotiated way back via Tube and plane. The news is, she's made the final 3 (out of several hundred) in the Storm Models New Faces competition and was invited down for interview and photo shoot this week. The prize is a contract with Storm (dead reputable, agents for Kate Moss et al) but you know, win or lose, chances are she'll get more paid work to help subsidise her next two years at Uni. Pays better than her minimum wage bar job I'd love her to win, sure. But whatever, she came home from London just that wee bit more worldy-wise and a wee tad more confident. Great to watch! ;D

Yup, still can't quite take it all in Me and Mr R have been tres full-on at TITP this last week, so haven't really had time to think it all through yet. But definitely a life changer, this one. Everyone seems genuinely thrilled for her, which is lovely. She'll be continuing on her Honours course for the next two years and intends to fit in the modelling work in between. None of that moving to Lahndahn malarkey!

WUNDURFUL Couldnt be more pleased. Obviously takes after her mum She's inherited her dad's hair-gene and his lovely even temperament, thank eff! Thanks so much for the good wishes, all Wean was badly bullied at school cos of her height and looks- and for aiming high academically: it all got a bit hellish back there. I didn't know what else to do so just held her close in crap times and urged her to, you know... hold on. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijZRCIrTgQc

Why thank you, lovely Celyn! ;D Ms R's a lovely girl inside AND out: part of the reason she won, I think. Storm's after grounded young people who'll behave professionally and not get too carried away with themselves. The boy winner's also an educated lovely young man, at Uni in Cardiff. Agency seem keen to find ways their people can work around their studies as they've done with Lily Cole and Emma Watson, who were both at Oxford. So fingers crossed difficult choices won't have to be made! But that's a first world problem, when so many young people have few choices at all in life. We know how very lucky we are....

Wean's in Lahndahn tonight, getting to grips with the geography and researching best way to get to photo studio early-ish doors for her first assignment for Storm. Sure don't envy her the rush hour traffic... She's also been offered another PT job in a fab new family-run bar/restaurant in Byres, starts Friday night. Fantastic run of luck...but best of all she can't wait to get back to Year 3 @ GlasgowUni. Happy days ;D
