Only in the past few days has the great Glasgow public been informed we're to host an enhanced Orange Walk on Saturday. And the takeover of George Square by these sectarian knuckle-draggers. AND we lucky taxpayers get to pay the not inconsiderable bill for policing. FFS!
There 's no place for these bigots in Scottish society in 2015. Their walks deliberately provoke antagonism, they are allowed to sing about glorying in the death of other faiths, while circling their churches in a provocative, menacing fashion. Ordinary folks travelling on trains and tubes have to tolerate being herded into separate queues, why the fuck should we? These are troglodytes just looking for trouble, looking for a fight, looking to provoke and intimidate because they travel in numbers.
People going about their weekend are now hastily changing their plans, me included, to avoid city centre. Shopping plans, work rotas, you name it, rather than risk being caught up in potentially violent outbursts: cab driver told me tonight he's taking the day off without pay.
Let them march, let them have their freedom of expression: so shove them in an empty football stadium or a field somewhere away from the city centre where they can march to their hearts content, let them threaten each other with their big dogs and let them throw glass bottles at each other, not us folks just going about our day.
Glasgow City Council need held to account for allowing this fecking debacle and for presuming its OK to spend our Council Tax on support services. SO wrong.

Seriously one of the things hated about Scotland was the sectarianism. It is absolutely stupid. As far as I could see one side was as bad as the other.
How you stop it I dont know.
I still have a quiet chuckle wondering what some of my Scottish relatives would think knowing my practise was bought from an Irishman from Dundalk and one of our best clients was the Catholic Church. A local Convent liked using us because my partner was female and the head-serang of the convent knew that the church hierarchy couldnt bully her or threaten her with eternal damnation
The other is the class system though I think its worse in England. As I mention before I was astonished at my then boss's attitude to Mrs Captain somethingorother virtually pleading to lick her shoes and telling me it wasnt my place to try and chat her up.

If you think I'm gonna rise to that obvious chain yanking you've another think coming, dear Oz Damn!! Thing is though, Oz ma dear, you're not that far off the mark. Because should even two or three of the tens of thousands opposing this hideous event in Glasgow tomorrow lose the rag a wee bit under serious provocation, I can guarantee you the mainstream media in the UKE is just ready to pounce and vilify them. That's where we are in Scotland at the moment; a sustained campaign across most of the media to discredit the Scottish people at every turn--and ridicule our duly elected representatives at Westmonster. I sure hope everyone who can't avoid town tomorrow keeps the heid and treats this 'event' with all the derision it deserves. And chooses to vote out the current Glasgow City Council majority that's allowing it. Stay safe, everyone. Lest we forget what happened just a few months back in 2014. George Square, September 19th, the day after the Referendum, where massed ranks of Unionists rioted. Attachments:

They're a tiresome nasty shower, right enough. Mind you, this wee surprise "fest" has at least caused amusement on Twitter. There are some funny suggestions for #OrangeFestBands.

Crap, all of it. The Westminster nobs are trying to set us up for a fall. BOTH sides of the religous divide are mad, bad or illusionary.

Well, in this case, it's more like the Labour mob running Glasgow City Council, who are also very fond of the old divide and rule. Remember the Council handing out money to a couple of Orange Lodges to pay for jolly parties for the Queen's Jubilee? I just remembered a song from the late Alistair Hulett. link

Also, they think god is on their side, but, judging by today's weather, I don't think she is. Many LOLs at the silly LOLs.

Yep, Celyn, that whole thread was hilarious, well worth checking out. Would it be churlish to mention my own effort--- Grand Master Sash..

GCC are excusing their action in allowing 600 Orange Lodge marches in the past year by kowtowing to the Orange Order's proclamation that OrangeFest is an educational opportunity, whereby Glasgow's citizens can 'learn' about their views and values. Aye, right. The late Alastair was 100% on the money...
