A very sinister recent situation has arisen, I just wonder, as it looks like there could have been as many as thirty to forty bomb packages potentially sent over our skies. We are told it was a tip off, that is a word for, we caught a f**ker and we've tortured the s*it out of him/her and we've got this information we need to get out as quickly as possible. If this proves to be the case and potentially thousands have been saved, I wonder if some people would reconsider torture to have been ok, this time??

Like you Nota, I can be cynical about these things, however this time, there has been for the last 4 weeks here in France a real concern that A/Q were going to do a major hit on the UK, France or possibly even Germany. Regards the BA chap he is correct, no one yet has been caught as a serious terrorist with you or me removing our belts or shoes. Profiling is the way forward, but Govt.'s have not got the balls to do that as they are frightened they will upset the people they should be profiling. We are at war, so as that is the case I don't give a flying f*ck if someone fits the profile of a possible bomber, they are inconvienenced, much better to upset them than upset the majority of others who are travelling.

Pity ra yanks dont enforce the stringent security on thur internal flights, efter all 9/11 wiz caused by internal flights

I go through the same security procedures when I fly to Ohio. I haven't noticed any difference.

<head in hands> The media has got this all TOTALLY out of proportion, as per fecking usual. We HAVE to stop running scared. If we run about like headless chickens causing air travel to come to a standstill we are acting exactly the way our 'enemy' wants us to act. OK, keep reasonable security precautions--- but for heavens' sake, somebody do the maths and inform the travelling public of the likelihood of being bombed out of the sky on any given day. But of course that kind of sanity doesn't make headlines, does it? How many flights depart every day worldwide? Is it more or less than several thousand? How many people travel on planes every day? Is it more or less than tens of thousands? How many planes have been brought down by terrorist bombs on board i n the last 20 years? Is it more than or less than 2? There is BIG MONEY in keeping us all terrified out of our wits. But call me cynical...........

I suppose it only really matters if you are on a plane that explodes or is flown into a building. Otherwise, no problem.
Were there no bombs in the airplanes? I thought that there were.

Yeah, well you'd want to prevent that happening, of course you would--- but at the same time I think it's only reasonable to assess the REAL risk of travelling anywhere on any given day. Life can be dangerous, full stop. My point is that many many millions more people died on the roads, in train crashes, boats sinking, aircraft accidents, etcetera worldwide in the last 20 years than have done in terrorist bomb attacks on planes. I haven't counted 9/11 in this because we are talking worldwide security precautions on even the most basic of low risk holiday flights---and not internal flights in the US which are treated differently.

Not forgettin were military forces huv blown passenger airliners ootra sky - whoops
Ah huv nae qualms aboot travellin by air in ra slightest
how come they huvtae use bombs when surely a few well placed terrorists on a flight would only huvtae use thur mobile phone(ur even huv it switched on) tae cause a majir crash, otherwise why would they make yoo switch it aff when travellin by air
Although a "suicide mobile phone switcher-onner" disnae quite huv ra same ring tae it

What are the differences between international flights from the US and internal US flights. I've noticed no differences. I hate flying. I'm always terrified when flying, but it has nothing to do with terrorists.
Are you saying that there were no bombs? Was there no underpants bomber? (at least they haven't forbidden underpants!) Was there no shoe bomber? It can all be confusing.
Conspiracy theories are what drive me nuts, not going through a security line. I also don't care if I have to put my shampoo in a small bottle in my carry on.
I thought that cell phones messed with navigational instruments.

I would rather all were screened prior to boarding on any flight I am travelling on.. Same as I dont mind delays. I would rather they checked out things properly rather than take short cuts.
Slightly off subject. The actress who played June whatever in "The Bill" was out here recently and was interviewed on TV. She said she got to customs and a Customs Officer said "C'mon through June we know you're clean".
Such is fame

Such is fame Cat stevens ra singer , whose now known as Yousef Islam (since ra mid 1970s) was refused entry tae ra USA efter 9/11 - he has a beard If you go throo heathrow here, you get yer photo taken on the way into terminal building, then throo baggage security, thenwhen boarding the aircraft they check yer passport, then check yer photo again - totally pointless multiple checks, why not just do it all at one time It all appears designed to push you by the shopping area

I don't think that Yousef Islam was refused entry because he had a beard.
