A young girl walking between Queen Margaret Union and the stairs down to Ashton Lane @ Brel was subjected to a violent rape in the early hours of Saturday morning. I have walked those 20 yards hundreds of times, as has Ms Rolo and I suspect many women here have too.
Please, everyone---particularly Westie, Bormes, Mrs Bormes, Ms Bormes and Maggie---circulate this description on your WE networks. Ms Rolo's passing the message on to all her student friends too.
Literally hundreds of people will have been in Ashton/Lilybank at the time. Somebody will have seen this person. but maybe not realised the significance.
Please help get this person arrested and off our streets.
The suspect is described as white, 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, with a clear pale complexion.
He is in his early to mid 20s, spoke with a local accent and has short light, possibly blond hair.
At the time of the attack, the man was wearing a black full front zipped hooded top and dark-coloured tracksuit or jogging bottoms.
Det Insp Alan Brown, of Strathclyde Police, said: "This has been a very traumatic experience for this young woman and I would like to reassure the public that my officers are conducting extensive enquiries in the local area in an attempt to trace the person responsible for this attack as soon as possible.
"The area around Lilybank Gardens was particularly busy with people coming out of bars and clubs and I therefore would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging either prior to the attack or perhaps running off afterwards."

ALL the Pubs in Aston Lane have CCTV. We are still in France so I know nothing about it. I hope the young girl recovers, she has our sympathy.

Glasgow Uni emailed all their students and staff earlier today about this, asking if anyone has any information or saw this 'person' hanging around last Friday night/early Saturday morning.
The young girl is a Uni student, just going about her life in a busy area.
I guess the polis will be working through the various Ashton CCTV, Bormes. The cowardly, vicious little shite will be caught.

And presto! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18206185No details released thus far but I'm betting the CCTV tracked this 'person'. Many see CCTV as a threat to civil liberty and privacy but you know what? I don't. If you've nothing to hide you've nothing to be afraid of.

A young woman was brutally attacked in Broomhill on Monday night. Pls Westie, Bormes, Mrs Bormes, Ms Bormes and Maggie- get his description out on your networks. The man is described as Middle Eastern in appearance, about 5ft 8in, of slim build and in his mid-20s. He was wearing a white tracksuit jacket and spoke with a Glasgow accent.
The Daily Record published a 'comment' earlier from some amoeba blaming the victim for daring to be out alone at night. I've asked them to remove it, out of respect for the girl but guess what...it's still there

Funny that about the Daily Rhebel, they have one decent journal, Annie.Brown (ex partner of Fairlie a chef in Gleneagles, he traded her in for a younger model, HIS loss, as she is a fine Lassie) she is quite a champion of the underdog and women's rights in general, surprised she has not gone on the offensive against whichever journal wrote that?

I remember reading a piece in one of the Glasgow rags this year, that there's been a marked increase in reports of 'casual' sexual assaults on white lassies by the assorted multiculty males in this city... lassies will get groped / felt up / remarked at (and not in a complimentary fashion) as they're simply walking past these blokes on the street. Get tae fuck. You're in our country; you play by our rules, yan uncivilised feckin animals.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, Bormes, it wasn't a remark in the journalist's report, it was a comment underneath from some keyboard misogynist. I asked the Record to remove it but likely they'll have had to consider it as free speech. Well, I tried.. (Coincidentally I know Annie's ex brother in law, Jim Fairlie from Perthshire Farmers. He supplies fantastic food to Healthy T food area at T in the P. Lovely man, family business..)

Abuse of women and girls on the streets is not new and hardly the sole preserve of any 'race'. There's a lot of hatred out there. Let's not add to it?

Worse to sweep it under the carpet and pretend it's not happening. It's not new, no, but as the story said, reports of casual attacks by furrins are on the increase. Tell that to the rag that ran the story.

Nobody's sweeping anything under the carpet, hereabouts, Westie. Far from it.
You'd expect that in an increasingly multi-cultural society that offenders will come from a broad spectrum.
I'm not so sure the rise sexual assaults has much to do with 'race'. I believe the problem is much, much deeper than that.

There was a discussion on a similar theme on Asians being concerned in more sexual crimes than other people in the UK. It was the case, per head of population there ARE some crimes certain people's tend to be involved in, just as there are a majority of certain ethnic groups involved in certain jobs. Sex crimes, fraud, Internet fraud and trafficking are mainly Asian crimes. Drug trade, violence for hire, theft is big in Somalian community. Romanians tend to do begging and pickpocketing. Nigerians are hugely into Conning from the Internet. Our own UK criminals of course do everything!!

When Islam and other countries like India have so many attacks of women and have such a low esteem for women and then these immigrants come to the UK, They do not change, their primitive ideas are just the same, so I do not find it difficult to understand why so many of them are involved in sex crimes, after all they are being told constantly by their religious leaders that our short skirt wearing women are whores and infidels, then no,wonder these fuckwits behave as they do and so many of them THINK like their religious leaders although fortunately they do not all act like the minority of them.

I know what you're saying Bormes, but the 'man' being looked for in the Partick case spoke with a Glasgow accent. I agree with you re how some followers of some religions see women as whores and 'temptresses' and try to force even those living in the UKE to wear burkas. It infuriates the hell out of me However, I'm not so sure we 'civilised' countries get off the hook that easily...as women are increasingly seen as objects to be 'used' by men. Due in no small measure to the ready availability of internet porn, lapdancing clubs etc. That there's been national protests by women AND men all over India is hopefully a start on a very long road. Rape is not about how a victim is dressed, anyway. (I don't recall anyone asking how the young MAN recently raped in Dowanhill was dressed . ) The responsibility for rape is the perpetrator's, not the victim's.
