And lastly, one with people in it Me and my opposite numbers, Yvonne from Contemporary Music Centre Dublin, John from Australian Music Centre Sydney and Luis from Music Centre Luxembourg. Colleagues from Greece, Poland and Lithuania in background. John, who also turned 60 recently, tells me there's such a thing in Australia as *Long Service Leave*. WHA? ? He's able to reduce his hours to 4 days a week on the same pay. I DEMAND SCOTLAND INTRODUCES THIS PRONTO!!! Attachments:

And this one for you, Oz. Our friends at Sounds Australia entertained us all to a breakfast of cheese and Vegemite toasties washed down with Mimosa at 10am the other day. I'd bet my colleague Glenn SA that he'd never convert me to Vegemite but had to literally eat my words. I now have to send whisky over to them cos I lost the bet. A win-win I think. Attachments:

Great pics, great buildings!!These guys make us look like a bunch of hicks. Glad you had a great time.
Here we all get 3 months paid long service leave after 15 years with same employer. (That was my family trip to Europe) It is to encourage continuity of employment. If an employer sacks someone after 10 years long service leave has to be paid pro-rata. Public Servants get 2 months after 10 years. I hadnt heard of the 4 day week bit must be a Public Service bit or maybe he was extracting the wee-wee?. I would have loved my normal working week to be reduced to 5 days.
I am glad to hear the delicacies of Oz cuisine is spreading ie cheese & vegemite toasties for brekkie. Vegemite is an acquired taste lol
PS I trust the mimosa as OZ champers and orange juice PPS He has prob done a deal long service leave transmuted into a day off a week.

Wee bit off subject but here, my guys, at least, as well as long service leave get
37.5 hour working week (most work in excess of 40 hours , unpaid overtime)
20 days pa paid leave ( now they are legally allowed to "cash-in" a max of 10 days)
6 days paid Public Holidays (most firms , ours included, throw in 3 days between Xmas and New Year as a type of bonus)
20 days sick leave (10 full pay 10 half pay... doc certificate MAY be required)
Time off as and when required for private purposes ranging from Grannie's funeral to watching kids' sports day (always provided targets are met)
9% Super payments ( dont kid yourself ...straight off top of salary)

Yes, he's done 25 years with same company so is taking Long Service by reducing hours. Of course if I were to try that, I'd end up doing a full time job in 4 not 5 days. That's the big concern with trading down your hours and not having the staff resources to delegate to younger folks that don't have the same degree of responsibility. As a boss, you're always *on*. Except if you work in the public domain, where buck-passing to junior employees is the norm.
