I got home from hols on Tuesday night only to find that in my absence I'd been tasked with flying back out to a meeting on Thurday morning---not that far as the crow flies---from where I'd just been... I was helluva delighted though, to get on over to the only major European country I've not had the privilege to visit before..double double drink on me to the person that guesses said location.... Is the right answer! Yes, I've been in Bern this past week at the European Music Council conference. The predominant language of the four routinely spoken in Switzerland is German, while French, Italian and Romants are all spoken in various degrees. (Berne is the French name btw). Bern, despite being capital of Switzerland, is not well served airline wise from the UKE, so quite a roundabout trip to get there from the more far flung European countries like Scotland....Glasgow-Amsterdam-Zurich was our chosen route, then THE most fantastic trip on a double decker train (just like Sydney's) through the mountains to Bern. Pic I posted was the Swiss Parliament building. More pics to follow when I retrieve them off the iPad...

OK rather partial to Chivas Regal but will settle for a McEwans Export ( if they still make it) I spelled it Berne coz Je parle Francais un peu, mais tres merde! Mais Je ne parle pas kraut!
