Artists, doncha just love them? They come up with THE most ridiculously ambitious ideas and I'm dead pleased to say that this one is gonna be great! Sound To Sea: 250 boats, large and small, will take to the Clyde on the closing weekend of The Games. A veritable flotilla! On some of the boats will be some of Scotland's best bands and artists performing live. There'll be aerial displays of sound and light (or son et lumiere as we in the trade cry it ) over the Canting Basin, where the audience will gather. (Sir Hank, advance warning of plenty opporchancity for some amazing pics here...) The *Sound* element of the event is down to Mr Rolo: one of his biggest challenges to date. The *Sea* element's been facilitated by my most lovely upstairs neebor, who's the Harbour Master of the Clyde. I actually think this will be one of the most memorable events staged in Glasgow (in a good way!) HUGE logistical challenges for all involved: chez Rolo's tat table's been a bit like those old war movie scenes with maps, boats and plans being shuffled about Here's the gen: if you're about that weekend, please do come along! www.scotsman.com/news/scotland/top-stories/royal-navy-to-stage-glasgow-2014-show-on-clyde-1-3413207

Hope it will be on TV.
That and Oz beating England in medal tally will make the games for me.
Will be twice as interesting knowing Mr T was involved and bound to be great.

The Oz team uniforms for the Commonwealth Gavrs has just been released.
It consists of a green oilskin coat with a gold sou'wester. Personally I think the matching gold wellies are a bit ott.

Look forward to welcoming Cate and Bronte to Glasgow in July . It's likely the sisters will attend an event I'm working on so I'll be only too happy to signpost them to the site of their ancestors at Glen Coe. Our chairperson is also a Campbell while another board member is a MacDonald but I'll do my darnedest to make sure an unseemly fistfight doesn't break out.... As if... We left that crap centuries ago, but it seems like the global press just can't HELP themselves...

Equally it could be said Employers are inciting strike action before the games. Wont do games much good or make a good impression on the 1,000s of overseas visitors from countries you will need to impress to export goods to after independence. Self interest ahead of national interest It takes two to tango.........
